the ideals outlined in the constitution are nice but they were mostly lip service to an obstinate owner class balking at a nobility half a world away that we have somehow telephoned for over 200 years to mean whatever we want.

It's like they think that just by saying the word liberal they invoke a higher power, like a priest scaring away vampires with a cross.

that liberalism is very explicitly not in favor of government regulation or welfare. They tell me that the meanings of words do not matter. I tell them that there is a better future possible than the one that gave rise to the problems we see.

Nintendo's deal is copying Disney. It's why they tell stories about how Zelda was inspired by Miyamoto exploring caves as a child instead of just copying Tower of Druaga, for instance. It's why they refuse to talk about other studios. They want to lock you in from childhood and create disney adults.

Anyways I visited the Nintendo museum last year- seeing its history in perspective made me realize games are more of a means to an end for them - IP development in the hopes of becoming a Disney. They had some artistic streaks in 80s-00s but I think it's mostly gone now in favor of growing more

Political context the concept of liberalism is not a helpful descriptor and it's more useful to talk about other things like social issues or different forms of market philosophies.
