Thinking about all those relatable Miyazaki quotes and the fact that he goes through all the same struggles as every other artist does. We’re all connected in that struggle. Its kinda nice to know god isn’t all that different from me.

Harry Potter stopped being popular because its author was became cosmically awful that she became a black hole that even the books couldn't escape from. All the other faults were already there, nobody really cared. She became a bigot and everybody left. There's no mystery here. Fix your heart or die

What makes me mad is that autocorrect now changes words in my writing without me noticing at all. It's faster than my attention span.
Autocorrect has gone completely useless on iPhone lately. The way it mutilates it written speech is beyond recognition

Once at uni, we all skived off a lecture on Bodily Fluids in Modernist Literature & went to a friend’s for coffee.

An hour later, there was a knock on the door & Dave was standing there looking traumatised. ‘You bastards!’ he said.

This is why 1 person at the Melania screening is funnier than 0.

The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:

- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE

This is so important because A) she did it in response to Benedict Wong, a far more prominent actor, saying he's listening to the audiobooks a lot and B) did it unprompted, she specifically stopped the fluff interview to draw the comparison to the themes of their film and support trans people.
You’ve got to love how actress Kelly Marie Tran, one of the most harassed people ever to be on the internet, still leapt up to defend trans people in a recent interview. No one would blame her for keeping her head down and shutting up forever but she will NOT and I admire her for it ⭐
Star Wars actor says ‘trans rights are human rights’ when asked about Harry Potter
Kelly Marie Tran said ‘trans rights are human rights’ when the topic of JK Rowling's Harry Potter series was mentioned in an interview.

Only have a character do one action per panel. There are some exceptions like when The Flash zips around with after-images and does 8 things at once but for the most part, 1 panel, 1 action. Every panel needs to provide a clean, cohesive image and having someone do multiple things at once is muddy.

He nails it here, though.

Sometimes ppl push back against the “ice didn’t exist until 20ish years ago, get rid of it” argument with “but we had ins, they did exactly the same thing” like ok great then let’s reverse everything we did since we dissolved ins, you should have no problem w that

This part. Celebrate every victory, large and small. Celebrate each other. Celebrate the love and solidarity that hold you together. Never stop doing this. It's fundamental.
I don't keep doomers in my feed but since apparently some folks do: "celebrate each and every win, loudly" is Organizing 101

The garbage-farting computer machine is not just incapable of creating meaningful work of its own, it is also incapable of producing YOUR meaningful work, no matter how clearly you describe it.

There is ONE workable use case...
I'm noticing more and more artists on DA "experimenting" with AI tools to animate their art, then they switch entirely to AI slop.

And then they stop posting entirely, citing frustrations with the AI tools not doing what they want.

It's so, so depressing. Just keep creating. Keep being yourself.

This point isn't made often enough:

Rightwingers have a totally fucked up idea of what Americans are really like.

They were able to sway voters politically on immigration -- and assumed that meant they'd Iove it when they beat, tortured, and killed immigrants and anyone who sympathized with them.
Long way to go yet but I think it's worth pointing out that the entire rightwing media ecosystem went all in on the idea that Americans, or at least enough of us, would accept the idea that the government should be able to murder people in the street and they failed utterly
