I really don't know clouds at all.

As seen in (a very brief quote in) The New Yorker.

She/her. Sapphic bi. Trans rights are human rights, black lives matter, the first Pride was a riot. Enjoy the cornfield and cute, sexy narcolepsy.

"I don't handle rejection well" is a statement that may be true about me but it overlooks the laundry list of other things I don't handle well.
I see people responding to this with "well, actually, it stretches further back than that" and there are two things to consider:

1) no, it really doesn't, disagreeing with the GOP agenda (which I do) doesn't mean that there is no material difference between now and then
2) going insane is a process
The problem here is: the GOP has gone completely fucking insane in the last 10 years

And well, this may have been obvious to Dems and/or anybody actually paying attention, most people genuinely did not believe that the Republicans want to do the things they’re currently doing until, uh, they did it

Something that came up when talking with @cobaltlily.bsky.social - we joke about the Revolution being leftist secular Rapture, but memestocks/crypto fantasies are functionally right-wing secular Rapture just as surely. "You don't need to do anything, just arrive at the right moment."

"COOP, IT'S GORDON COLE! TURNS OUT DIANE IS IN A CLOSET FULL OF MOVIES AND SHE'S GOT A LOT TO TALK ABOUT, HENCE WHY SHE HASN'T BEEN ANSWERING YOUR VOICE MEMOS! THE BOYS AT QUANTICO ARE WORKING ON A SYSTEM FOR FEEDING YOUR TAPES INTO THE CLOSET FOR HER, COOP!"

No, what I am feeling about the bitcoin crash is not schadenfreude.

"Schadenfreude" means "shameful joy" and I do not feel one whit of shame.

if by coincidence part of the conspiracy theory lines up with reality, you might think that it means the theory was correct, but consider the following: no
it is worth saying quite loudly that the conspiracy theories are still not correct
I really, REALLY do not like the flourishing "wow, it turns out conspiracy theories are correct!"

This is insulting specifically to Transformers and a compliment to the RX-78.

A real "oh, he's so lucky, she could do better" moment.
this is the actual solution to the "what do you call the RX-78" discussion all over the TL

The Internet was based on Ben Franklin's notes* so it's really from 1780 basically.

* The notes in question: "It woulde be agreeable to My Conftitution if, upon my Confeption of looking upon a comely maiden bereft of Clothef, I could conjure a clear Picture of thif upon a mirror Promptly."

BUDD: "So lemme get this straight. They're gonna prevent change... by stopping people from voting?"
BILL: "Nah. Voting doesn't actually matter or change things, they're just going to stop you from doing it."
BUDD: "Huh. Why're they doin' that?"
BILL: "I dunno. I guess they thought it sounded cool."
lifelong nonvoter here, who unlike you isn't deluded into thinking voting matters (it doesn't and couldn't possibly change anything): Trump is obviously going to prevent you from voting, because everything he's doing is dedicated to making sure you can't vote
That's weird, people told me that Trump could effectively lock down voting in states by flooding the streets with ICE agents.

It's almost like the loudest voices on here are just straight-up wrong or something!

I'm coming around to the idea that the firebomb-a-walmart people who are complaining about voting aren't just dooming, they fundamentally do not believe in democracy.

We're fighting for liberal democracy, they're fighting to be the ones in charge of a dictatorship. Those two are incompatible.
yes correct voting is the one and only way citizens in a democracy directly wield political power

unless you are firebombing a walmart anything else you are doing in the political sphere has an effectiveness that ultimately functions via voting
It was beaten into my head growing up that voting is the MOST IMPORTANT THING you can do, that it's what political action IS. And yes, ive had several liberal friends/family tell me that if I want better things I need to vote for them. Thats that. They literally can't imagine anything more.

There are few solutions, but with a life of therapy, you can experience a largely normal life that does not involved weeping openly at a single peach whilst wearing a low-cut shirt and smoking a cigarette.
My thoughts are with all the persons experiencing Frenchness.

Writing something like this is disqualifying you from ever being taken seriously just from the tortured non-logic evident in the statement. (Screencapped for the inevitable block/delete.)

Incrementalism works. Incrementalism is good. Incrementalism is how you turn a mountain into a paved road. It's a tool the right has long weaponized in its arsenal, and if you can't understand that an incremental step is important you are unable to engage with the reality of wielding power.
One issue on the left - and it has been an issue for a while, is kind of a disbelief in incrementalism.

Like we see it with people criticizing people celebrating a small win. We get the work is not done! But progress is progress.
