just leave the fish tank light on babe and crank the mothеrfucking Für Elise
truly don't understand what broke in Peter Jackson's brain to go from being someone whose films through LotR are so lovingly hand-crafted and tactile to someone who's now seemingly all in on destroying historical records in the name of tech
Jesus Christ, the "remastered" Beatles Anthology documentary they re-released is filled with AI slop. Look at John and Paul's faces, and the "T" on Beatles.

grabbed The Compleat Beatles from Internet Archive and it really is wild that two of these guys are still alive, and at least one is still actively touring stadiums and arenas

ditto Altman:
1. 3 Women
2. The Long Goodbye
3. Nashville
4. McCabe & Mrs Miller
5. California Split
6. MASH
7. Brewster McCloud

(those are the essentials, Buffalo Bill and the Indians, A Perfect Couple, Vincent & Theo, Fool For Love, Dr. T & The Women, Countdown and Quintet also leaving)
not all Johnnie To films are leaving Criterion Channel at the end of the month. here's the ones that are, ranked by (imho) priority

1 Drug War
2 Election
3 Mad Detective
4 Breaking News
5 Life Without Principle
6 PTU
7 Three

If you can watch them all... do so!

you know who could have pulled off Blue Moon if they were determined to stick to stunt casting? Tom Cruise.

one of these moments would have been too much but doing the little wink to the audience thing *three times* that Hart inspired E. B. White to write Stuart Little, inspired George Roy Hill to direct Butch Cassidy and The Sting, and met precocious child Stephen Sondheim... jail

really difficult to overstate how good Qualley is in Blue Moon, takes an impossible part (dream girl of literally everyone in the room) and grounds it, gives it life, even in a less stylised context not hard to see what at least one Coen sees in her, one of the best we've currently got
support cast is wonderful, particularly Qualley, but Hawke is fatally miscast, you're telling me they couldn't find a short gay freak willing to play that part

the current trend of cinema ads that run several minutes (Waitrose, National Lottery)... let's not let this become a regular thing

the critical rehabilitation of Alanis Morissette is one of those things where I appreciate the intent behind it but also think we more or less had it right first time round
catching up on this week's Top of the Pops and let out a hearty 'oh my GOD' upon realising Paul Heaton was only 36 here
