Doing stuff in space has always paid off in technical developments for doing stuff on earth. Space science is cool and good and necessary. None of that money is wasted in any way that matters bc money isn’t real and social dynamics inform who gets money on earth, not how much money there is.

Going from La la land beating out moonlight to this year has been a journey.
The idea of what "an Oscar movie" is has changed more in the last 10 years than at any point in the Academy's history. The only comparable period is really in the late '60s/early '70s.
Saw a tweet earlier that casually threw Bugonia into the category of "Oscar Bait" which I think speaks to just how much the actual concept of Oscar Bait has more or less died.

The actual narrative blunder was assassins creed 3 and every game afterward where you are just playing forrest gump out for vengeance. The conspiracy framing stuff is the least of its problems.
Assassin's Creed trying to ground the concept of the game in some stupid sci fi tech was the biggest narrative blunder of all. All it needed to be was a game about assassins throughout specific times in history. Each entry didn't need to be connected. Wasn't necessary.

I just keep thinking about how you would reach some of these conclusions over there in europe or the UK (not europe) and if it's coming from reading mainstream US media (or idk the guardian) you're gonna have a real hard time understanding what happened here.
