I have literally never, not once, picked up a brownfield project and been like "oh thank god it's using an ORM". I have however spent hundreds of hours mitigating the consequences of ORM usage. I think it might be time we call this a failed experiment and just stop using them.

As soon as cameras started revealing people's casual cruelties in day-to-day interactions, the response was not 'we shouldn't do that in public' but rather 'you should have to accept that in public'. It failed in exactly the same way as 'an armed society is a polite society' failed.

The thing about a pissed off federal judge is that unless you have a majority in an appellate court to override him or 2/3 of the US Senate to remove him - the judge will tell you to fuck off and do as you are told and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

The devastation I feel about this attack on science in particular is hard to cope with. It’s like watching my dad die all over again. I would do anything to spare someone a death via pancreatic cancer.
