Whenever you hear someone invoke the unitary executive, remember the image below.

This was an inevitable result of the unitary executive theory:
Empowering a president to tyrannically destroy institutions that ensured our government reflects the rule of law rather than his personal whim.

Every time someone brings up “ooh encrypted chat” we should hilight that the police and other state agencies have an unimaginable amount of data accessible to them, compared to even ten years ago.

If they can’t do their job with that, we should reduce funding and allocate elsewhere.

It's amazing that after a breach, there's a tonne of money for info sec too, but after some downtime there's still no money to level up observability.

I'm not talking just about tooling though, it's about people, infrastructure resources, and general appetite to spend money.

Technologists use many confusing numerical abbreviations. It's important to know what they stand for.
a13y: antimachinery
o11y: octocentenary
k8s: kittenless
i18n: intercrystallization
l10n: liverpudlian
I *just* got a Fnirsi TS-02A. I think it’s related to the Pinecil? My old Weller still does a great job, but being able to set temperatures from 100-450 C (or so) is super handy.

I just need to wrap my head around “firmware update for my Linux-based soldering iron ” ;-)

Enjoy the Pinecil!

“Ultimately, the collective strategy of AI companies threatens to deskill precisely those people who are essential for society to function(…) automation of knowledge and culture by private companies is a worrying prospect – conjuring dystopian and outright fascistic scenarios.” — @olivia.science
AI Is Hollowing Out Higher Education
Olivia Guest & Iris van Rooij urge teachers and scholars to reject tools that commodify learning, deskill students, and promote illiteracy.

The below comment is about the Microsoft Sales Team, but I imagine everything at Microsoft is like this right now.

This is the first autumn in 5 years without new episodes of #StarTrekLowerDecks.😢 Man, I really miss the show!!! It always made me laugh (I need that now!) and it had the deepest and most outrageous callbacks. Plus: it showed that it IS totally okay to talk about chairs on starships - I feel heard!

Acorn Electron / BBC Micro - Chuckulus - WIP
Maybe I'll try a thread instead of quote posting stuff !.....
Fixed the flashing egg and bouncing off ladders bugs - thankfully quite simple stuff....
Time for some proper level design, as some are just too damn hard/impossible (even without the DUCK !) 🙄

it's kinda weird that all the software i am expected to use for work are all written by distributed teams, go, python, postgres, linux, chrome, k8s etc

and despite being told "the best teams work in an office together" i don't know of any software i use that's actually written that way

Holy fuck. At first - and second! - glance, this looks very realistic. Video’s like this would have gone viral before anyone notices it is GenAI ;-(

Yesterday, I read that, according to Gen Z, when a Millenial puts "lol" at the end of something, it makes them sound old.

They said nothing about Gen X, but, whatever, lol
