Fixed the flashing egg and bouncing off ladders bugs - thankfully quite simple stuff....
Time for some proper level design, as some are just too damn hard/impossible (even without the DUCK !) 🙄

Got slightly distracted and started looking at the final disc/tape loaders..... 🤯

Exomising the entire game image to reduce footprint / tape load time. Compression ratio about 50%, which will do !

Here's a visual representation of both files - zipped/unzipped !

Yes, I've had to learn / re-learn some Beeb stuff (SHEILA / hardware sounds and keyboard).....

I did start with one version that was patched at runtime depending on platform, but it got too much, so going with 2 different main game file versions ! 🙄

I had to got back to the original Exo decruncher, as I'd deleted a lot of the optional asm I needed (like reversing the decrunch direction) !

I've been messing with compression recently, some of it got quite frustrating, but all done with that now I think !

Had success loading from Audacity / PlayUEF / Cool Edit Pro (!), had to crank the volume up quite a lot though IIRC.

I remember those Mode 1 / 2 loaders - bought up quite a few rewind tape errors back in the day !

I'm lucky enough that my ageing laptop has in/out audio jacks !

Not too bad is it, considering there's about 2K in there that's compressed already ! I guess it's all the pages and pages of sprites that it likes.

Had to reverse the Exo decompression direction, but glad that bit's done !

Thanks for that - no worries, it would be nice to check if some of my old tapes still load (some of them last used about 30 years ago I guess) !

It's odd, I'm sure I had another tape player somewhere - seems like I've mislaid a whole box of goodies at some point ! 🙄

I've got some of those titles, but currently no way of playing cassette tapes - old faithful walkman finally gave up a few weeks ago ! Am raiding my Mum's house on Thursday to see what she's got laying around ! I've got XOR, Jet Set Willy 1 and Galaforce 1 off your list 😎

Cheating sounds good to me - I guess if these tools were available 40 years ago, they would have been used ! As you say, you're having fun, which is what it's all about !
