As I have said many times: Nick Land's The Dark Enlightenment isn't some ur-text of the dark and sinister limits of anti-humanist thought; it's a guy who's always on the computer complaining about Slate articles and how everyone laughs at race science.
Update on Bari Weiss University

If I worked for any reputable organisation, I'd flag the use of '88' in any messaging, since it's an infamous neo-Nazi bullhorn, especially if your first reading list for 'Origins of 21st Century Right-Wing Thought' (w/ selections from Nick Land and Curtis Yarvin?)

Most times I see purity tests mentioned, what they mean is "please stop caring that the candidate has a history of anti-trans stances". So I'm at the stage where anyone using the term needs to explicitly describe which policies they think are optional, because I'm not tolerating dogwhistles.

Also, I think I’ve now talked to at least 50 people who worked at this company and I haven’t found a single person who felt much more than ambivalence. The closest I got was a hardware person who mostly said “yeah we built some chips,” one of the few examples of an original Microsoft product

It also shows (and I know a lot of people will be angry about this) that the Greens' approach to Gaza is neither the vote-loser nor the 'gotcha' that fundamentally undermines their politics. If it's 'naïve', it's also something that resonates with many people, not just the extremes.

Can you imagine being the software engineers, engineering managers, product managers, designers, QA testers, and devops that built and run this? Cashing out your palantir equity for "deportation targets"? Accomplices and ghouls, all of them

Or, and I say this with love, asking critical questions to which you don’t like the answers, getting vaguely frustrated that execs plow ahead with clearly harmful and immoral products, and then contributing to building them anyway because “everyone has to make compromises”.

The reason I post this phrase is not to say that everyone who works in tech is bad; but the normative mode in tech is not asking critical questions about the products you are making, cashing in, and getting vaguely frustrated when you can’t just focus on “politically-neutral techno-optimism”.
