The fact is that the placement of the National Guard in DC was nothing more than a political stunt, with Trump treating those troops like little green Army Men to make himself feel tough.

Now two guardsmen are shot, and possibly dead.

Unnecessary and infuriating.

2 West Virginia National Guard members shot near the White House
Gov. Patrick Morrisey gave conflicting accounts of their conditions. President Trump, who was in Florida, said a suspect was also severely wounded.

Since politics are on vacation this week, I'm taking the opportunity to obsess over my favorite American football grift, the International Football Association (IFA). To get up to date on their past year of nonsense, check out my last thread on them.

Now, onto the new bit of grift ->
Its been a rough week, so if you'd like a weird distraction, let me tell you the tale of the weirdest sports story from this year: the International Football Alliance. The IFA is advertised as a professional spring league that has teams in the USA and Mexico. The league also appears to be a scam. ->

Blue Bottle has yet to reinstate Abbey, and now our union is preparing to strike over this unfair labor practice.

To support our strike, please donate at tinyurl.com/bbiu-strike, and pledge to boycott Blue Bottle until Blue Bottle negotiated a contract with our union in good faith.
Help BBIU get strike ready!
As we approach 1 year of negotiating a contract, Blue Bottle has made it clear that their side will continue to use union-busting tactics in attempt to break morale and our organizing. In spite of th...

On Thursday, @bluebottle illegally fired Abbey Sadow in retaliation for her union organizing. Our members in the Chestnut Hill location conducted a march on the boss shortly after, demanding that the store manager, Jenny Harbold, reinstate Abbey before the end of the day yesterday.

More on this— the union has been bargaining a year and a half with no first contract yet. In a civilized nation it would be illegal for companies to draw out bargaining past six months.

If the Democrats take control of Congress in about a year and Jeffries and Schumer haven't been primaried, then they almost certainly will be the leaders of both bodies, and based on all available evidence they will take that opportunity to immediately surrender in the name of unity and comity.

To be clear (since NPR isn't), the "joke" is premised on the fact that Trump is kidnapping people w/o due process and shipping them to offshore concentration slave camps in defiance of court orders, human rights accordances, the U.S. constitution, all tenets of common decency, and international law.

Thousands of baristas in over 65 cities are on strike demanding higher wages, better hours, and an end to union-busting. And we're just getting started 🔥

One of the reasons I stepped back was holding my own side to account was treated as attacking it. My side couldn't get their shit together and countless grifters exploited that. But apparently it was my fault for calling them out.
Pretty sure not everyone knows this but I wish everyone did: Saying something critical of Republicans does not automatically equate to heaping equal and opposite praise on Democrats.

Saying anything critical of Dems equally does in any way indicate approval of anything at all that Republicans do. Criticizing politicians is doing democracy.
