The problem with arguments that if Mamdani wins in NYC the GOP will use this to frame Dems as radical terrorists is that they already are doing that. So instead of pivoting to centrist positions as a way of trying to counter that we should embrace Mamdani’s popular progressive policies.
Leavitt: "The Democrat Party's main constituency is made up of Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens, and violent criminals."

Wow. New Economist poll finds only 34% of Americans say ICE's use of force has been justified, vs 51% who say it's been excessive. And they oppose agents wearing masks by 52-35.

Yep, ICE is becoming a pariah agency, and that's gaining deep penetration in the culture:
ICE's military raids and masked kidnappings are resonating deeply/negatively in the cultural spaces we keep hearing Dems need to reach: Manosphere, Joe Rogan, country music, disengaged voters. That's rare and it gives Dems a big opening to engage.

Thoughts on this:

The idea that any challenge to an incumbent is “threatening to tear the party apart” is such an anti-democratic sentiment. If people are satisfied with Fetterman’s job he will win the primary and if not he won’t. I for one and not and would like to be able to vote to express my disatisfaction.
SCOOP: Top Democrats in Pennsylvania are maneuvering to run against Sen. John Fetterman in a 2028 primary, threatening to tear the party apart in the biggest battleground state in the nation.
Scoop: Dems plot Fetterman ouster
He's still popular with Pennsylvania voters, even as Democrats turn on him.

While I always knew that the Trump administration would eventually pivot from disingenuously using antisemitism as way of silencing political dissent toward actively embracing antisemitism I’d admit I did not expect it to happen this quickly and this boldly

MAGA: We can’t believe that people from the intolerant left refuse to date us

Also MAGA: We will create a dating app that screens out everybody who refuses to conform to our vision of the world.
Billed as “America-First Dating,” the site provides suggestions for “non-negotiables” (“secure borders, secure families”) as well as dating tips for women (“let him drive the date; you drive the conversation”) and men (“exclusivity before intimacy”). 😝 #TradYuck www.wired.com/story/the-wo...
The ‘Womanosphere’ Is Reshaping the Conservative Dating Landscape
From a religious OnlyFans creator to influencers quibbling over the appropriation of trad wife culture, right-wing personalities are jockeying for a larger stake in the dating zeitgeist.

The biggest problem with the not judging people by the standards of today is that all of the people committing crimes against humanity have almost always had contemporaries telling them this was wrong
You don't have to judge Columbus by the standards of today. His tenure as governor of Hispaniola was so horrific that he was dragged back to Spain in chains to answer for his many crimes.

Plus he never set foot on any land that would ever be a part of the United States of America.

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?

If you don’t see the link between ICE and the IDF, you haven’t been paying attention. We are being asked to accept a world where whole communities are made disposable and marked for disappearance. If we accept that for anyone, no one is safe anywhere.

In a time where Republicans have made attacking trans people central to their political platform and many Democrats have agreed to throw them under the bus for political expediency, it is inspiring to see a politician not only proudly fighting to protect trans people but also honoring trans leaders.
UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

I suppose we could mandate our political system to intensive psychoanalytic therapy to resolve this dilemma. The problem is that white supremacist capitalist patriarchy is by design a violent psyche that can't be fixed with any kind of therapy. We need a whole new psyche (5 of 5)
