#Quatermass
Looks like a Quatermass TV show.

#nowwatching Spaceways (1953). Not a horror, but a Hammer-produced sci-fi murder-mystery, released two years before The Quatermass Xperiment, and obviously part of a trajectory from the studio. Back to horror tomorrow!

Quatermass' Christmas?
Quatermass on Fox Night?
Quatermass in the Dark?

Utterly different in every way. The British one is a very famous book from the 1950s. By the author of the Day of the Triffids. I watched Quatermass last week and I wanted something similar and I’m reading Lagoon to branch out to discovering more non-western sci fi #devonbookhour

“Moon on a Rainbow Shawl”

and

“The Man” on BBC - for sure

Both for very different reasons

The Oscar Wilde play the other night, Quatermass ..

An era of invention and pushing boundaries

It's the original BBC serial that the 1967 Hammer movie "Quatermass and the Pit" was based on.

Quatermass and the Pit - Imps and Demons (5th January 1959). "It's all right, they're dead. They've been dead for a long time".

Absolutely love that serial. Almost 70 years old and still holds up. Plus Andre Morrell shows how the character of Quatermass should be played, much better than some I could mention #cough#Donlevy#cough#. I think I need to dig the DVD out again 😃

Working on a track called "The Creeping Unknown" (US title of Hammer's "The Quatermass Xperiment"), as a tribute to Nigel Kneale.

Sounding a bit Jeff Wayney at the moment. Might have to introduce new elements to avoid that.

As old school British sci fi horror goes, this is a classic slice. Full of seething anxiety, out of this world production design, and a sense that a world where all is not right lies right beneath the feet of domestic normality, Quatermass and the Pit is a delightful jaunt down the strange.

Possessing the Earth. Altered by methods we can't guess.

Watching the original Quatermass and the Pit serial.

It slaps.

The 'Wildness Years' is bizarrely my favourite era of Doctor Who. With the wealth of VHS releases of old stories, new audio and novels felt like such a creative time for. Books like 'Nightshade' led to me discovering Quatermass.

This. Watch Blake’s 7. Watch Undermind. Watch Quatermass and anything else you can find by Kneale. Watch Play For Today, Screen One/Two, Bill Brand, The Brothers, The Omega Factor, all those ghost stories. WATCH THE KNOWLEDGE
Watch something else. Discover different old telly!
People complaining there's no new Doctor Who until December.

Boo hoo. Imagine it's January 1990!

#Svengoolie He looked familiar. It was "Quatermass".

I hope #Svengoolie shows Quatermass and the Pit sometime

Just found out Judith Kerr (Mog books) was married to Nigel Kneale (Quatermass etc). When can I have this crossover series please?

Timeline cleanse: books

Current read is Midwich Cuckoos to give John Wyndham a second chance. Then continuing my Quatermass vibe with The Fungus by Harry Adam Knight

Plus my two traditional #gothic classics arrived; Castle of Ollada and Jules Verne’s The Castle of the Carpathians

The 1960 adaptation featured more extensive use of film inserts and location work than it’s predecessor

I’d love to see more of this

Viewed in context, particularly alongside Quatermass yesterday, the BBC is being adventurous in it’s film work and at this time the costs are not too prohibitive

Same here, it scared me something rotten on late night 70s TV. The first sudden sight of the zombie at the mine head and the chilling graveyard nightmare sequence still work. Morell was a fantastic actor, a terrific Quatermass and Dr. Watson too...
