It's incredible isn't it, pure cinema. And it really creeps under the skin...

Wow, I'm speechless... that's just brilliant, thanks! 💀

One of their very best, even without Mr. Cushing...😊

Controversial 😆 but film's always subjective. Odd though, I'd have thought this was right up your street. But I do enjoy a different perspective! 🖤

They really don't make them like Freddie Francis anymore.

Fantastic shot, not seen it before. Thanks for sharing...

He does indeed, with slightly less terrifying sideburns...😱
horrorposterguy1.bsky.social
To be fair, the film itself is hardly subtle 😆 but I do see your point and agree, there's some terrific stuff here making it all worthwhile! 💀

That's a fantastic double bill, The Haunting is perhaps my favourite cinematic ghost story and there's guaranteed nightmares with both together. To be fair, guaranteed nightmares with the two you've carefully left unmentioned too, but for very different reasons!

It's outstanding isn't it, excellent on every level. Freddie Francis' stunning cinematography is one of the main stars but yes, Kerr is simply magnificent!

They often did, off the top of my head '13 Ghosts' boasted it's gimmick 'Illusion-O'....

I'm right beside you in the Freddie Francis fan club mate. He directed many of my favourite films but that aside as an Oscar winning cinematographer his work is extraordinary. And never more so than here...
horrorposterguy1.bsky.social
Pretty sure I can guess which cast member grates, but that aside it's terrific fun! 😱

It's been a while since I last went on a charity shop treasure hunt, I really need to give up that lie-in and get hunting... 🔎

Classic adaption of Henry James from director Jack Clayton. Sublime. One of the finest ghost stories on film. Utterly spine-chilling, simply exquisite. 1961

What a fantastic find! And 50p? I really do need to come shopping with you 😄

He did, he was a terrific old school showman. And I'm quite a fan, I've several Castle films in my collection. Not all great but all great fun!

It's generally accepted within Hammer groups (and historically by Hammer themselves) that 'Brides' is part of their Dracula series. Whatever an individual opinion, it's included as such in all listings. Either way, great films.
horrorposterguy1.bsky.social
It is indeed, and it still works today.

I'm not a great fan of colourised old films but I've not seen this particular one colourised and I'm liking your disclaimer....
horrorposterguy1.bsky.social
It is indeed, Price was always good for extremely tasty ham!
horrorposterguy1.bsky.social
It's so entertaining. And it perfectly captures the spirit of Halloween, tremendous fun with genuine scares! 😱
horrorposterguy1.bsky.social
The thing that always surprises me is just how scary this actually is! It may be utter nonsense, but it's genuinely scary nonsense.

It is, the famous 'Emergo' gimmick of having a ropey skeleton fly across the auditorium at a particular point. Good old William Castle!
