In 2017 I decided to make taking a square of TP from Salisbury cathedral a family tradition
This went by a dozen times before I saw the name

I thought people were being mean about her face!!

I've seen people say that getting attached to ChatGPT is like "believing the stripper really loves you", but that's not true. It's more like believing that the dryer personally composed that little jingle on a lonely sockless night just to win your affections.

About 99.9% of you who pirate books live in an area with a public library, and that library almost certainly has some sort of digital ebook platform. Go get a library card and a Libby account and just wait your six weeks for your free copy to borrow like the rest of us.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

The fact more people don't know about shoofly pie and that it should be available everywhere year round but you only find it in this tiny pocket of Pennsylvania Dutch country is a shame. When I left Philly my favorite baker made me a shoofly pie to go and I ate the whole thing at the airport
This got me thinking….how do we as a society normalize pumpkin pie as a breakfast option at restaurants year round? Who will be the change we want to see in the world?
It turns out Mina and I have identical pie takes (literally had home made pumpkin pie for breakfast this morning before kids woke up).

LISTEN UP!

December 1 is Monday.
This means I only have another 6 days to get an advent calendar to you.. Those days include Thanksgiving and a Sunday.

I will be doing a post office drop tomorrow! This is your last chance. I can't guarantee it'll get there by Monday, but it could!

Had a really strong migraine come on out of nowhere this afternoon so I took meds and laid down on my office couch. Woke up and thought whew it’s still light out at least I didn’t sleep long! And it turns out it’s just my monitors are super bright

A roundtrip LAX-JFK flight in the late 60s was around $3K in today’s dollars. The people who wore suits on those flights were the people who regularly wore suits. Complaining about informally-dressed fliers is complaining that the wrong sorts of people are flying today.

My edible glitter has arrived and while I intended it to go into drinks I’ve just realized I could make all of the thanksgiving meal with glitter

I’ll tell you what I love about Joel- I asked him if I could take a video of him saying Manos the Hands of Fate so I could send it to my brother in law and he happily did it

My dinner each year was Snooty Mac and Cheese and the one year he said to me it kind of looks like chum. Did I know what chum was?
One time at a family vacation in OBX my husband’s aunt’s boyfriend decided he wanted to make thanksgiving dinner for everyone. Bragged about his cooking skills. He dry brined the turkey in a febreze scented garbage bag. Then he cooked it on the grill not long enough and it was mostly raw

Not to brag or anything but I just finished the thanksgiving shopping in 28 minutes including checkout

On today’s call with my aunt we are talking thanksgiving and I told her I got food safe glitter to put in the drinks

Aunt: Well I probably won’t drink because I have to drive but maybe you can put some glitter in a little baggy for me and that’ll look good when I get pulled over for speeding

do you have any idea how much you have to piss somebody off to make them change their gauge
#Finland will begin to #Russia - proof its rail network, integrate with EU train infrastructure.

The Finnish government has announced the conversion of its rail network from Russian gauge (1,524 mm) to European standard (1,435 mm).

Breaking: people with “struggle unless they are interested” disorder do well once they can work in an area that interests them
An increase in ADHD after No Child Left Behind is not evidence — it's correlational and diagnoses have been rising for decades.

"Kids don't like school!" also isn't evidence. Kids have always disliked school. Without a comparison to previous cohorts this is meaningless.

The thing about my mom being one of 10 is that once the younger ones started having kids it was impossible for the family to do thanksgiving together so I have no idea which of my uncles might be the Problem Thanksgiving Uncle because it’s been 25 years
