I'll have to think about reframing as a different genre🤔, but as for opposites still within the same genre, my fantasy stories are very much NOT Game of Thrones. No SA, no random major character deaths, and sorry if you are a fan but I find his writing tedious and I can't finish it.

“Out! Go! Run!” she yelled. Talna and Lex tumbled out of the vehicle with their belongings. “Don’t stop running!” The pair raced for the building. Its glass and metal gleamed pinkish-gold with the sunrise, a resplendent symbol of Dun Crunath’s glory. In the distance, the police sirens grew louder. Lex kept her eyes fixed upon the spaceport’s front doors, forcing herself to suck air into her lungs, to pump her legs, to not look behind her at the city that’d always been her home. From her mind, she banished all thoughts of her family, the palace and its gardens, and the wooden idols of her gods. They could not help her now. She and Talna did not stop running until they reached the gate on their tickets. Lex held her breath as the attendant scanned them on Talna’s datapad. The scanner flashed green. The attendant smiled and ushered them aboard. On the transport ship, Lex sank into a seat and buried her face in trembling hands.

I have some brutal deaths in my fantasy stories, but somehow that seems different from an "injury."

So how about this with [redacted] assessing their injuries while imagining a friend encouraging them. Well, "encouraging" with quotes might be more appropriate. 😅

Yes, Harvey is that lovely pain where every slight movement leads to a cascade of pins and needles plus the nauseating grinding together of numerous pieces of bone. “Hello, Harvey,” I whisper hoarsely. “I need to see if my fingers still move, so we are about to become real acquainted with each other. Please, don’t be too much of a jerk, k?” Just check once to see. The anticipation is worst. I flex my right hand into a fist and Harvey cock-punches me hard. Asshole. “You lied,” I groan. “The pain was so much worse than the anticipation!” But at least you know you can still move it. And have feeling in it. “Still feels half asleep which is not a good sign, but maybe I will get to keep it after all.” I’m sure you can keep it either way, even if it is in a box next to your lower left leg. “Fuck you.” Sorry, too soon?

Most woke opinion? Government should have nothing to do with marriage.

They should let any people who share a residence & finances file joint taxes if they want, and maaaybe set default rules for proxy medical decisions (if not defined by person). Neither of which have anything to do with gender.

IANAL but... uh... I'm pretty sure "Actual existing judge-approved settlement" is a wee tiny bit more of a sure thing than "lawyer who spams bsky might maybe someday file a lawsuit but hasn't yet and it might maybe get more money."

Thanks for asking this because I honestly don't know! Most of my stories won't really go there, but in my rock drama/romance, Philosopher Queens, I really should think about that to add some depth to the characters.

Katie's most intimate prior relationship was awful so she has never explored.

Tried to make the political meet & greet interesting and have more Digs/Pyntal bonding in their Meet Cute. So enter Digs not wanting to be alone with the rich elf lady who tries to set her up with a relative.

Pyntal doesn't help the situation.😅

Pyntal interjected. “Uh… Felcrown one week. Dignity… um… speak help.” Then she smoothly launched into a series of words that Digs did not even remotely recognize. Digs spewed a variety of sounds pretending to speak in that language Pyntal has used prior but it took every bit of both of their willpowers not to break out laughing at it. Pyntal rambled a response that continued… and continued… and it soon became clear that she was having far too much fun with this. Digs smiled and nodded through it all but felt her back sweating in nervousness. She had no idea what to translate this long speech as. Pyntal, however, turned to Raen and said, “Yes. We say yes.” “Oh, excellent!” Raen’s eyes lit up and Digs’s stomach plummeted. “That will be wonderful. Thank you.” “Thank you for inviting us,” Digs said. “Now, I apologize but I think I drank a bit too much and need to… you know. Um, but have you met Azzerrad Zane from the [some name] domain?” Then she dragged Pyntal to the nearest washroom without looking back. The door barely closed before Pyntal nearly fell over laughing. Digs struggled not to shout. “What was that?! ‘Dignity… um… speak help?!’” “Sorry, Digs, I just went for it and didn’t think that through. Hee hee! But, hey, looks like you have a date! He is cute.” “I’m pretty sure we are both on the hook for that, Pyntal Tilliwic!” “Oh no, I’ve got no interest in the guys. He is all yours.” “I don’t— argh!” Digs leaned on the counter and glared at Pyntal. When the gnome merely smiled back and cocked an eyebrow, it was too much for Digs to hold back the laughter as well.

For the first time, Edie arrives in Bludeye Beach ❤️
As if on cue, the road ahead of them opened up like a movie montage. All of Bludeye Beach laid spread out in front of her. The forest ended at the top of a ridge, the road following a sharp decline. The town was all cute cottages and old-fashioned buildings, lying bathed in golden light. Best of all, Edie could see the ocean unfurling beyond the town. The glittering blue looked like a painting, too picturesque to even seem real.

The thing that frustrates me the most about writing serials as how people don't take serials seriously until they are ebooks and paperbacks.

My serialized novel is still a novel even though I am publishing it episodically. I go just as hard for my serials as I do for my regular books.
