That bit reminded me so much of roads in West Cork on holidays when I was a kid

Oh 100%, he was sold a dream like everyone else in the movie that didn't work out. The Christmas Adventure Club are the uber villains in it.

Yeah, I'd be curious. (I'm just glad it's not a 3D glasses situation where it's just a second pair)

Sean Penn's character is almost a parody of a Paul Schrader protagonist so him being frustrated that we have no empathy with him is also very good.

The movie being nearly three hours means the final sentence is either a typo or a very funny backhanded compliment.
Paul Schrader

ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER. FB friends have asked my opinion. Filmmaking at level A+, but try as a might I couldn't muster up an ounce of empathy for Leo D'Caprio or Sean Penn. I kept waitng for them to die. (Penn's performance , however, is a masterclass in peacock acting.) What held me in my seat for the better part of two hours was PT Anderson's Joy of Filmmaing.

Oh, I saw Peter McGann is in a new one for younger audiences (I think) called Showkids that looks interesting, so hopefully soon.

I mean I can understand that

Yeah! Also I watched "No Worries if Not" recently and very much enjoyed it, so I think they are figuring it out at the moment.

Oh yeah, it's all good until there is a mix up and a pensioner accidentally read aloud the cursed words of the Necronomicon. Did you consider that, Melinda?!?!?

I see the Irish Times has a new 'Tip-offs' section.
Screenshot from the Irish Times website. Photo of a concerned-looking man on a beach. Headline reads 'A shortage of gardaí on Ireland's west coast makes it 'wide open' for crime'.

I do think The Killing Joke is a better comic than he does but he uh has an interesting relationship with his fans.

Alan Moore is a weird crank quite a lot but I do think about this quote when people refer to his superhero comics in this way.
The Killing Joke is a story about Batman and the Joker; it isn't about anything that you're ever going to encounter in real life, because Batman and the Joker are not like any human beings that have ever lived. So there's no important human information being imparted...Yeah, it was something that I thought was clumsy, misjudged and had no real human importance. It was just about a couple of licensed DC characters that didn't really relate to the real world in any way.

Maybe I should set up an AI that just likes my posts and says things like "How very intelligent of you" and... wait a minute, that's regular AIs!
