Apparently Spielberg asked Tom Stoppard to write the screenplay for Jaws, but Tom said he couldn’t as he was writing a play for the BBC.
"I'm offering you a fortune to collaborate with me on a Hollywood blockbuster, and you turn me down to write a play for BBC TV?"
"No," Tom said, "BBC Radio."

Looking up old sitcoms and it's hard to not feel that things haven't gotten too high concept today when you see premises like "what if there were two friends?" or "what if there were six friends?"

Unless you work in retail or radio or something, I think it's pretty easy today to dodge hearing a song in the run up to Christmas. We need to start doing visual ones instead - how long can you avoid seeing a "Merry Christmas Ya Flithy Animals" jumper?

I got to say alternating reputations of SATANIC PANIC and BEING TOO WOKE makes it mildly disappointing when you first play D&D and it's mostly looking at graph paper.

I'm very much enjoying my mentions being filled with memories of everyone's local dodgy pirate video seller.
I agree with most of this but I do think we all are prone to misremembering video rental shops as much less culturally homogeneous places than they were.
