Meanwhile my old home state of Indiana is moving to bring babies into the workplace rather than grant paid leave.
Paid Leave is going to be a game changer for small business owners like Martha at Marty’s Deli.

US History question: when the rebels took Fort Sumter, the Richmond inquire reported that the victorious Richmonders played “the Marseilles” — why? Were they positioning themselves as inheritance of French revolutionaries? Regicides? Robespierre ended slavery.

I consider myself a Wally Wood fan (with several originals of my own) but... I didn't know about this. Apparently in the early 60's Wally pitched a Sunday newspaper strip showcasing famous people, and made up some presentation pieces, like this one.

Indiana Republicans have unveiled their proposal to re-gerrymander the congressional map & expand their current 7-2 majority to 9-0.

The Dem-held 1st would flip to Trump+12 & the 7th to Trump+19. All 7 GOP seats would be at least Trump+18.

Two fun facts about the districts in the proposed Indiana congressional map:

* Obama won 5 of them in 2008 and lost 3 more by <6%.

* All 9 districts are less GOP than #TN07.

If @aftynbehn.bsky.social wins tomorrow and this map is passed @indems.bsky.social should contest every seat. #BlueWave2026

Suddenly thinking about how in the Spring of 2011 I hosted David Bentley Hart at Wabash College. And by “hosted,” I mean tortured with a red eye flight and boiled fish.

My wife came to this conclusion independently!
THANK YOU, DAVID BENTLEY HART.

I expected this revolt way earlier, because the libertarian wing of that party is pretty powerful. And by powerful, I mean insane.
it's so wild that Indiana Republicans are kinda the first among their own to be calling bullshit. Indiana Republicans believe that life begins in the balls, they're way out there. Generally speaking you can't reason with them. But Indiana is also sorta southern, doesn't wanna be told to get in line
Indiana Senate Republican Greg Walker “said he would have reported the alleged violation to federal authorities “if I thought that there was anyone of integrity in Washington that would follow through on my accusation ..”

This week I learned Minnesota brings a turkey to the governor's mansion just to let it know it's gonna get eaten. Incredible state. I have many notes for it.

In other news, the wild turkeys of the Twin Cities are an armed militia

If you saw the sandstorm scene in Lazarus: Fallen #6 and are not sure how I created the balloon effects, I wrote out a tutorial for @rogue151.bsky.social in the thread below. Don't click if you don't want to know how I pull a rabbit out of a hat -- it's not that exciting once you see the technique.
Random comics thing that makes me happy: I’m rereading last week’s Lazarus and I love what I’m guessing @airy.bsky.social did with the speech bubbles here. It conveys in such a fun what the characters trying to talk and it getting jumbled in a sandstorm.
