This morning, federal agents staged at the Powderhorn Park Recreation Center lot and began to throw chemical irritants at observers. They also kidnapped an observer. Our parks are meant for our children, youth, and neighbors. They should never be militarized zones meant to separate families. 1/

The Epstein emails should really end the debate over whether society should have billionaires. "Do you want there to be a class of people so powerful they can fuck your kids and no one will even try to do anything" seems like an easy sell if everyone in politics wasn't trying to get on their payroll

THIRTY FOUR THOUSAND
More than 34,000 Minnesotans signed up to be trained as ICED observers with various activist groups in recent weeks, many of them since Jan. 7, when a federal agent shot and killed Renée Good.
Thousands of new ICE watchers hit the streets after two killings
Minnesotans outraged by the killings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti have signed up in large numbers to monitor and protest ICE with other activists.

This again is why Minnesota is nucleus of repression and the resistance. This largely white place - far from the "coastal elites" - has the nerve to attempt true multi-racial democracy, enacting progressive policies, having highest voting participation and quality of life indicators. How dare they.

I keep seeing posts going "when ICE comes to MY city, we'll be out in the streets even harder" and man, I get that sentiment but I need everyone to understand that the work in Minneapolis is partly confrontational but MORE IMPORTANTLY aaallll the stuff organized in the background to help neighbors

It's not just "stand up to ICE when you see them," it's building many vast networks of support and trust to
- create safe spaces
- protect schools
- get kids TO school
- check on neighbors
- deliver groceries
- help pay the rent
- let people know of danger
- feed the helpers, too!
- and on and on

my vision of the US is I wake up in my neighborhood and all my neighbors are still in it, and all the kids feel safe to go to school, and I go to work and and no one’s waiting at the door to see if I’m someone coming to take them away, and I go to bed knowing the next day will be the same
@whstancil.bsky.social I would love for Mr Stancil, the Hero of Minnesota, to write a short story about a day in his vision of USA as it should be. I want to see Will’s Vision.

I believe in keeping the pressure on Dems to finally align with their base. But if I’m being honest, Trump 2 has radicalized me against believing they can save us.

Any Minnesotan delivering a meal to neighbors too afraid to leave their home is doing more than Klobuchar has ever done for Minnesota.
Still though, the posture of democratic leadership will be telling.

They have an opportunity to rewind the clock on the abuses of the patriot act, to dismantle this rogue agency, liberate those held in concentration camps, and beat back fascism.

Preemptively compromising cannot be tolerated
