The two greatest evils known to mankind, A.I. and the person directly in front of you in line at the post office, have finally teamed up. We’re done.
Woman in line in front of me at the post office is not happy about the cost of shipping. She just whipped out her phone, asked ChatGPT how much it thinks the shipping should cost, and is trying to get the mailman to honor that price.

Increasingly convinced the main damage cell phones have done to creativity isn't decreased attention spans or what not but the elimination of productive boredom. Inspiration comes from the mind filling the void inside. Hard to make art when you're constantly silencing the silence with "content."

Every review of youth gender medicine is just, "there's evidence that this helps and no evidence that this causes harm, but here's why that doesn't count."
reading the HHS "gender dysphoria report" summary and this is some truly insidious shit. sure, all the studies SAY the kids are happier, but we bet they aren't actually. they're all hopped up on something we bet probably

As the Met Gala approaches, I want to remind people that the Gala is the primary source of funding for the Met’s Costume Institute. The Costume Institute, despite being a major draw for the museum, is not funded from the same big kitty due to misogyny (fashion is for girls).

We talk a lot about social media radicalizing the population but it's been far more efficient at radicalizing public figures.
Online radicalisation of elites is a significant and yet poorly understood aspect of contemporary politics.
Holy shit, when Richard Hanania is not far enough right for you. Would love to hear what US Senators and prominent bloggers doing appearances with Andreessen think.

I've encountered a few people arguing that tariffs are good, actually, because they will force us to consume less and while I think our consumer culture is problematic in many ways, I don't think things such as 'food' and 'medical supplies' fall under the category of unnecessary purchases.

1) This bullshit is *costing* us a ridiculous amount of money.

2) It never was about "cutting costs;" it was always about control.

…I said "THIS WAS ALWAYS ABOUT USING THE RHETORIC OF EFFICIENCY & BUDGET TO GAIN ACCESS & LAY CLAIM TO SENSITIVE DATA & WEAPONIZE IT AGAINST PEOPLE THEY DON'T LIKE."
What Elon Musk Didn’t Budget For: Firing Workers Costs Money, Too
An expert on the federal work force estimates that the speed and chaos of Mr. Musk’s cuts to the bureaucracy will cost taxpayers $135 billion this fiscal year.

The Venn Diagram of Americans who say the government should be run by a business and who also complain bitterly about how every time they call customer service they get put on hold for an hour and then have to talk with "some foreigner who can't speak proper English," is a circle.

The Sopranos is probably the Rosetta Stone of modern American reaction: it consists of people who bemoan the loss of an imagined past they mainly got from movies, claim victimization based on identity but hate when others do it, and view the people who build the society they prey on as suckers.

It’s amazing that things like cutting FDA funding are never framed as, “I think private companies should be able to profit from having you literally eat shit and you shouldn’t be able to do anything about it”

If men are depressed and broken because they "have nothing to do", they could try cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry. They could spend more time with their children. They could even buy their own mother a birthday present, instead of expecting their wife, girlfriend or sister to do it for them.
White dudes are just bored, that’s why we need to destroy the economy.

Nobody knew how bad this would be, except for the many people whose warnings I dismissed, but they don’t count.

Actually a good distillation of the mindset. Having already unpersoned everyone who understood what was happening, there’s no need to reconsider the belief in one’s inherent superiority.

When did we all just agree that the federal government is bloated and could benefit from cuts?

I keep seeing this as a throwaway statement before media outlets criticize Trump, Musk, and DOGE. But it’s transparently false.

Many government offices are actually severely understaffed.

They found this unbelievable, but their phones told them otherwise.

Kids, I am older than your phones and possess knowledge that is not on your newfangled Interwebs. Believe me.
