I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.

I was telling one of my kids that it was physically impossible for an ad to play between songs on any of the records I own, and they asked "and you only have to pay for it once?" and you could see how strange that seemed. You cannot overstate how many basic rules of media consumption have changed.

Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

democrats don’t _need_ to temper their message. they _want_ to, because the message is not to voters, it’s to donors. they want the billionaires bankrolling the dnc to feel confident that accountability is never coming for them. otherwise, the money dries up. and dems believe only $ wins elections.
I think this whole conversation about how democrats NEED to temper their message to win voters is farcical. Obama promised to close Guantanamo. Campaign all you want about shutting down ICE. Go nuts with it, wish in that one hand. And then we’ll all find out what you do with the other.
