Posts about people returning to their homes are designed to elicit a sense of conclusion, of normality, that simply does not exist when Israel dropped the equivalent of multiple nuclear weapons on an area the size of Seattle.

I think what's bothering me about all these statements I'm seeing from politicians that are variations of "Israeli hostages and Palestinians are returning to their homes, yay" is that Israelis are returning to their homes and Palestinians are returning to uninhabitable post apocalyptic rubble.

The answer to "is Benjamin Netanyahu a war criminal?" is "yes, but he's also a genocider," and this should not be controversial.

Way too many people still think that whatever happens to people as a result of American imperialism abroad *cough Palestine Sudan Congo cough* is acceptable, fine even, not our problem, as long as the lesser evil wins in the United States.

And it's not. I'm sorry. It's just not.

Maybe it's providing childcare they can't afford. Maybe it's money. Maybe it's protesting. We all have our things we can do, and it starts in our communities.

Maybe it's picking up prescriptions for your disabled or trans neighbors. Maybe it's being a buddy so a marginalized person doesn't have to go somewhere alone. Maybe it's being an escort at an abortion or gender affirming care clinic. Maybe it's making food for neighbors who can't make their own.

"So what do you suggest we do to fight Trump?"

Find people in your community who need help, and help them. We all have skills. Maybe it's giving rides to people who don't have cars. Maybe it's going to the grocery store so your immigrant or racialized neighbors don't have to when ICE is around.

Yes, this is about all those memes everyone shares about abandoning red states or having blue states join Canada, and I. Hate. It.

1. No, "fuck gerrymandered Black people and queer people and pregnant people" is not an acceptable "solution."

2. Why do we get to just carve up stolen land some more?

by just divvying up the stolen land differently.

Slicing the stolen pie in different pieces isn't returning the pie.

I can’t help but think today about how many young people were savaged on social media, branded as anti-semites and abandoned by their schools for daring to call for a ceasefire. I remember saying that it was the first time I can remember that calling for ceasefire was regarded as a hostile demand.
