Late to this, but if the Sunday Times is correct that Morgan McSweeney spent one and a half hours last week with Lord Glasman then he isn't fit to fill any senior position in government.

This was a memorable day, walking through the Undercliff to Lyme Regis in a winter gale. The sea seemed poised to strip completely back and finally reveal the dark ancient magic of what it had long concealed. Subsequently, I was offered out for a fight by a gull for "looking at" him "funny".

I’m hearing from a charity that’s reluctant to support an anti-racism event because it’s too “political”. I’m explaining to them that opposing racism wasn’t at all “political” until very recently.
Also (1) everything is political but (2) it doesn’t need to be party political.
Charity IS Politics.

This seems strongly ADHD-coded
An old boss used to tell of one of his university mates who was so apathetic towards finishing his dissertation that one evening he chose to take apart their broken hoover to try to fix it. "Fixing the hoover" was coined as an expression of when you'd sooner do anything other than the task in hand.

Invitation said 4pm. But we're "working on African time" per the bride's mum so I spent an hour helping set up and we've gone to the pub until 6pm 🤣
Got my first traditional Nigerian wedding this afternoon. Very excited!

I've done a bit of reading but if anyone with Igbo heritage wants to share anything particular I should know/do as a guest, that would be appreciated!

And that's a super quick guide to British politics in 2025.

Important time. This was a few weeks after the Skripal attack when May called out Putin, and Johnson went scuttling off without his security detail to meet Putin confidante* Alexander Lebedev in Umbria and plotted with Temerko to topple May

* by then he was aiding Putin’s puppet regime in Crimea
Just as he was advising Epstein, Bannon was advising Johnson on how to topple May “Today we are going to see if Boris Johnson tries to overthrow the British government. He’s going to give a speech in the Commons.” www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019...

I came to this country as a child refugee. No English, no certainty, no idea what my life could become. Britain gave me refuge.

Not on a timer, not with conditions attached, but with a chance to grow roots.

I'd guess that 85-90% of American scientists would be ineligible for future funding under this law, maybe close to 100% in the R1 universities. So much for funding proposals based on scientific merit.

Apart from being sinophobes, the people pushing this have no clue how science or higher ed works.
“The prohibited activities would include joint research, co-authorship on papers, and advising a foreign graduate student or postdoctoral fellow. The language is retroactive, meaning any interactions during the previous 5 years could make a scientist ineligible for future federal funding.”

It's note worthy that the Greens aren't just winning. We're taking seats from everyone and we're coming from fourth or fifth place to first, to do it.

But it takes a lot of work from us regular folks! So help us out

People have tried to say that the Green surge is just on social media.

Or in a bubble that's just about polls and just about new members.

Yet up and down the country - Greens are also winning elections.

Huge congratulations to the Canterbury Greens! 💚🎉
