Racists are the enemy of the working class. Always have been. Always will be. And a racist who is a member of the working class is a traitor and should be treated as such.

The devastation I feel about this attack on science in particular is hard to cope with. It’s like watching my dad die all over again. I would do anything to spare someone a death via pancreatic cancer.
A tiny trial in New York has shown that personalized mRNA vaccines can provoke massive, lasting immune responses against pancreatic cancer, even as sweeping federal cuts now threaten the fragile labs required to produce them.

it's worth noting 1) that there's a longstanding tradition of trying to play solidarity against basic self-respect and 2) that the Combahee River Collective's coining of the term "identity politics" was directly in response to this

Part of the Civil Rights Movement was a dignity claim that when you are in public you have a right to be spoken to in a neutral manner. Hamilton v. Alabama. This service worker may hate to serve me Cinnabons, but it is part of her job to serve every customer in the same manner.
ah yes, all workers should have the right to hurl racial slurs at black customers

The bizarre take Jamelle’s replying to reminds me, oddly, of the lens through which a lot of right wingers seem to see racism: viz., as being centrally about passing judgment on a white person’s inner soul, making them feel shame, etc etc… and really none of that shit matters.

A film/TV manager once told me that he asked his clients to always try to take a note in the best possible faith and ask if it was secretly the most brilliant note ever given. Most times, it won't be, but turning off your kneejerk hostility will often help you find something in it worth considering.

i think the other thing that's going on here that the primary players don't want to talk about for obvious reasons is that shutting your state out of the House Democratic Caucus entirely is a really bad idea if you think Dems are about to take the House.
Republican Indiana State Senator: We don't want to be redistricting every 2 years at the whim of the president. It makes the legislative process just too transactional.

🧵Racism isn't a ~view~, it's an ideology of dehumanization that seeks to uplift one group to the detriment of others, at the expense of the resources, physical and mental health, and often the literal lives of those others.

The left should not—SHOULD NOT—acquiesce white supremacists for any reason.

this fact is the definitive judgment on kirk's life
ultimately, no one even grieved Charlie Kirk. he was just another thing for the worst people on earth to get outraged over. and when the outrage of real events wasn't enough, they invented new ones.

not even his wife saw his death as anything other than an opportunity.
my read is they were trying to whip up the usual frenzy, but then the effort got blown up by Candace Owens saying The Jews did it

there are pundits who will say that immigration is trump's strongest issue and that picking fights around immigration helps him on the margins. but i think this misunderstands the way public opinion works, as evidenced by trump's declining fortunes on his handling of immigration.

WOW; a DEEPLY corrupt move by the immigration courts; clear collaboration with Trump admin officials to produce a specific result with zero notice to the party and ALSO in a situation where the judge facially lacks jurisdiction; the judge had denied a motion to reopen and the case is on appeal.
Judge Xinis ordered Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s release in part bc ICE could not produce a final “order of removal” to deport him. So last night, they went out and got an immigration judge to issue one.

Now, Abrego is urging Xinis to block his redetention. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

It is not! A “scrivener’s error” is for things like fixing typos or very minor non-material errors, not retroactively adding a deportation order that doesn’t current exist!
Is "correcting" a previous order like this a real thing?

There is no part of worker protections that includes "having to work with people who use hateful racial slurs."

Being in an abusive environment that a co-worker makes is shitty! Workers should not have to tolerate that!

not "just this side." the right literally tells their voters the democrats *are* demons. when they vote gop much of their base literally believes they are acting as agents of god to prevent a demon infestation. that is a hell of a motivator.
you can see it when a Republican completely realizes that Trump is horrible but the idea of voting for *a DEMOCRAT* is met with a pained face and something akin to nausea...bc they've been conditioned their entire lives to think Democrats are something just this side of demonic
