On the second-to-last day in office, Phil Murphy effectively required every person who owns a pedal-assist e-bike or uses Citi bike to obtain a motorcycle licence, but has still refused to make schools, hospitals, courthouses and places of worship off-limits to ICE and limit police-ICE cooperation.

People say ”now is not time to talk [enter here environment/climate/energy transition]“ but yes no it absolutely is the time
Europe is America's biggest customer for fossil gas exports, by a pretty decent margin. One hell of a time to be directly antagonising and alienating the key customer for the already-shaky LNG boom in the US

I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.

Speedrunning toward the absolute worst of Jim Crow.
This video shows ICE holding children hostage to bait parents out of their homes.

Just unspeakable levels of cruelty and inhumanity.

🚨WHOA. The El Paso Medical Examiner says it will rule the death of a 55-year-old Cuban man at ICE's "Camp East Montana" tent camp as a homicide.

He was allegedly choked to death by a guard during a "struggle" after he refused to enter a housing unit without his medications.

Seeing Zohran instantly getting a bunch of shit done in like a week makes you realize that politicians could always do that on some level if they wanted it bad enough and very few of them actually do.

This, about what Pete Hegseth's spectacular inability to do a kettlebell swing tells us about MAGA ideology, is the most fun I've had writing an essay in quite some time. www.aaronrosspowell.com/3mcb4y7vwqk24
What Pete Hegseth’s Kettlebell Swings Tell Us About MAGA Ideology - Aaron Ross Powell's Blog
MAGA is built on a fundamental lack of the internal protective quality that warns us when we are debasing ourselves.

What is the point of appropriations if the White House can just cut off spending against its enemies?
The USDA just cut off ag aid to MN
They’re targeting and invading Minnesota. Cutting off all of our federal funding and flooding our state with federal agents with no purpose. They’re here to terrorize, cause chaos to justify their unlawful cruelty. Enough.

As someone who has multiple dangerous interactions with a car every time I ride my bike I have zero patience for this bullshit from JD Vance and Kristi Noem about the agent feeling threatened by a car turning around. The average bike commuter has more courage than trigger-happy Jonathan Ross.

A key part of the next presidency should be joining the ICC, funding it indefinitely, and sending everyone associated with these war crimes and human rights violations to the Hague.
The lawlessness of the US government provides even further justification for collective efforts to boycott the United States, to make it feel some degree of consequences for its illegal and destabilizing behaviour globally. That means avoiding travel, boycotting its companies, and similar actions.

... I’m thinking about the voters who convinced themselves that Trump was the candidate of foreign policy restraint.

I’m convinced the Spurs have forgotten the point of the sport is to score goals.
Tottenham have had fewer shots on target than any other side in the Premier League this season during the first half of games (21). Only Wolves (69) have had fewer first half shots than Spurs (72). (Squawka)

On December 26, China opened two new HSR lines: Xi'an to Yan'an (299km) and Hangzhou to Quzhou (131km).

Meanwhile, the United States bombed Nigeria and continued its aggression against Venezuela and Latin America.

China builds, the US bombs.
In 2025, the United States bombed:

- Iran
- Yemen
- Syria
- Iraq
- Afghanistan
- Somalia
- Venezuela
- Nigeria

And you’re surprised why the entire world hates us?

One thing 2025 made clear: Durable progress on climate in the US will require structural reform to our corrupted political systems. Otherwise, steps forward will always be vulnerable to the bloody clawbacks we saw this year. A political strategy that doesn't center system reform is not "pragmatic."
