Silicon Valley’s alliance with Donald Trump was a mask off moment and showed the world we can’t depend on US tech companies.

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!
Getting off US tech: a guide
I’m in the process of dropping US tech services. Here’s how I did it, and options you should consider.

The actual takeaway, that should scare everyone, is that Elon is fully capable of turning public opinion against the EU and emboldening those who actually do seek to dismantle it and reduce its regulatory power, all through "legal" or electoral means. Just look at the current shift right in Europe

The real takeaway here is that if Elon was to say this about China, the govt would shut down his business overnight and revoke access to the market.

But he can openly say this about the EU knowing full well any response will be slow, ineffective, and offset by US political backing.
It’s funny how Elon Musk has no problem with Chinese regulation, which is much stricter than European regulation.

Have you ever seen him call for the abolition of the CCP?

Employment in oil and gas is in terminal decline and won’t be saved no matter what Carney and Smith cook up, according to new research from the Centre for Future Work provided exclusively to @nationalobserver.com.

The only responsible choice for governments is to plan for the transition.
Exclusive: Fossil fuel workers won’t be saved by Carney’s oil and gas boosterism
A new pipeline won’t lead to new jobs in the oil and gas sector, and the only question for government officials is whether or not to plan for the inevitable energy transition, according to new researc...

As the year winds down, I wanted to get an update on how things are going with the digital sovereignty effort in Europe.

Unfortunately, it’s facing challenges — and being coopted by interests that want to use it to promote deregulation and EU tech with virtually all the same problems as US tech.
The European Union has been talking about digital sovereignty. It’s not going great in practice.

This week Aline Blankertz joins @parismarx.com to discuss the rollback of tech regulations in Europe under pressure from European companies and the US.
