We are in fact DESPERATE for winter coats, waterproof gloves, and good boots. We get so many wonderful donations but it is so cold and the numbers of unhoused unsheltered people are going up at the absolute worst time for it, and we run out of coats weekly.
The frigid Twin Cities temperatures will hurt the homeless; so do not gloat about the impact on ICE without also stepping up here:

As I witnessed shadowing a delivery person for a night, there is a real dehumanized disconnect. As if it’s all tech no flesh.
I dunno who else needs to hear this, but avoid ordering in DoorDash, Skip, UberEats, etc. today. Your drivers are gonna be unsafe and your food is gonna be extra cold.

There’s an argument people sometimes try that nobody “owes artists a living”, and that’s true.
But if an artist makes art good enough for people to enjoy and share and talk to their mates about and have become part of their cultural identity, then you ONE HUNDRED PER CENT owe that artist a living.

One thing that is worth remembering is that this violent, street by street occupation of Minneapolis required ICE to pull their forces out of the other cities they were tormenting. They cannot sustain this. Especially if every city stands up for itself as valorously as the good folks of Minneapolis
