Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (1990) is on YouTube.

Gary Oldman and Tim Roth star in Tom Stoppard's big screen adaptation of his own stage play, itself a play on Shakespeare's Hamlet.

I've been kicking around the idea of putting together something about the process of writing comics... and today I have pulled the trigger and put out the first part, or prologue, to HOW I MAKE COMICS: A Writers Guide.

Okay…it’s a holiday and the editors aren’t paying attention (probably):

Here is a link to the first volume of Black’s Myth. The whole thing. Because I’m thankful for you. If you enjoy it, pass it on.

Just remember that if cute, little Kirby can strike down the gods time and time again then you can finish that project you were working on.

Kirby believes in you.

Don't let them down.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

This @eyepatchwolf.bsky.social video sent to me by @abreen.bsky.social really hits home for me as someone who is currently deep in revisions on an outline for a comic book pitch.

If you are also making creative things, you might find solidarity with this.

Dear Internet,

Please don't spoil comics the day they release. Maybe wait a couple of days?

Thank you.

The third best thing you can do is tell others how much you enjoy that author's work, by writing a review.
If you like an author's work, the best thing you can do is buy it. The second best thing you can do is ask your local library to buy it. Or, do both!
A reminder that the median book deal for a debut author in the UK is £7000, paid over 12-18 months. (from 2022 Society of Authors report). Some of your favourite writers are struggling. societyofauthors.org/2022/12/06/a....

Doctor and vet offices,
Don't ask people to arrive 15 minutes early for an appointment and then make them wait 15 minutes to get into an exam room and then make them wait another 30+ minutes for the doctor.

Value your patients' time like you value your doctors' time.

There’s only 3 things you can do in the comic book industry. Setting aside formats, genres, delivery, for a minute: 3 things. 1: Work for 7-8 publishers. 2: find a rich guy (one rich guy or small pub headed by rich guy) 3: self-publish (crowdfund, etc). That’s it. It’s not easy, good luck.

I was deadset on becoming a poet throughout college until I got hotboxed in a buddy's room and experienced nirvana with All-Star Superman in my hands.

I knew then I was going to be writing comics for the rest of my life, and I promised to make someone feel what I felt in that moment.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?
