The correct thing to do in this scenario, when faced with a misogynistic, moronic boor, is to tell him that he's being a boor. If people had done that to Donald Trump 40 years ago instead of trying to ingratiate themselves to the rich guy, we wouldn't be here now.
When asked if there was anything "incriminating" in Epstein's emails, Trump pointed a finger in a female reporter's face and snapped. 'Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.'

Email just went out on my campus that the Immigration Goons ("federal immigration agents") will be in town (Raleigh).

Inter alia, it says,"International students, faculty and staff should carry evidence of their immigration status with them at all times."

The fuck kind of country are we living in?

Somebody give this Very Good Dog the uppies he's requesting ASAP
This is Fendi. He is seen here demonstrating the internationally acknowledged sign language for politely requesting uppies. 13/10 would pick him up immediately (TT: isthat_jojo)

Watching Fellowship of the Ring with my nine-year-old son for the first time, just saw the fight in Moria, and his comment was, “Frodo really needs to stop getting stabbed.”

Walter Johnson wrote one of the very best books on slavery in the antebellum South (Soul by Soul, highly recommend), and it's nice to see his fastball still has this kind of movement

every time I get to work with @patrickwyman.bsky.social is a good time, guaranteed. the same applies to listening to his podcasts! these episodes are thoughtful, moving, educational, and even revolutionary in their focus on the "common clay" of humanity.

do listen!
I have the most incredible team working with me on this: my wonderful producer, Morgan Jaffe; one of the sound designers who worked on Tides, the excellent Gabriel Gould; and the incomparable @rkambury.bsky.social making my words better than they have any business sounding.

This is, in complete sincerity, one of the best developments in American culture since my adolescence. The kinds of things grown-ass men would routinely say to me as a teenager about my female classmates could not fly in practically any context today.
I want people to understand that in my youth, a youth that happened somewhere between the youth of Epstein, Trump, Maxwell, ex-Prince Andrew, et al & that of their victims, the term "jail bait" was framed as a compliment.

They've spent years courting people whose main mode of thinking is conspiratorial, and now they're trying to openly cover up an actual, honest-to-god conspiracy by appealing to...conspiratorial thinkers. I don't hate the symmetry

Trying to find the right imagery to describe the caving Dem senators and I’m stuck somewhere between “landed fish flopping on a boat deck” and “guys tidying up the ballroom as the Titanic sinks”

I'm pretty sure the whole point of this frustration was that a substantial chunk of your colleagues don't want anything to do with the bigger fight, and fail to see the manifest dangers from repeatedly giving these people what they want with no meaningful strings attached. Jesus Christ.
But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.

The President pardoned members of his private militia after they failed to overturn an election; they, in turn, pledge their support to him and urge him to use them to police civil society.
New:

On The Gateway Pundit's podcast yesterday, Stewart Rhodes announced he's relaunching the Oath Keepers

He also urged Trump to “call us up as a militia" & "order us all to come together in our counties under his command."

1) Gaunt's Ghosts
2) Eisenhorn
3) Horus Heresy: be selective, but my favorites are "Legion," the White Scars novels, "Betrayer," and "The First Heretic"
4) The new Orks novels
5) Most of the Chaos Space Marines novels - the Black Legion series is particularly good, IMO
Yes, but also we are going to need some book recommendations.

I’ve been reading a lot of Warhammer 40k fiction and one of the big appeals is that nobody’s pretending everything is ok. It’s bad! The choices are all bad! That, uh, resonates a bit at the moment.

is it good when the dems in the house of representatives start calling for the senate to be abolished
I don't know what the Senate is going to do. But if they do in fact fold in exchange for nothing, they will be living up to past performance. To expect the Senate to carry out the will of the American people is to misunderstand why it was created in the first place.

Paging @patrickwyman.bsky.social, but I honestly would contend that if you want mass media that accurately depicts pre-modern historical attitudes toward human slavery, it's SPARTACUS: BLOOD AND SAND and STAR WARS
It's one of the better depictions of the historical mindset around Classical to Early Modern slavery you're likely to see

You can't live your life based on hate - that way lies madness and bitterness - but allowing yourself to slip into hater mode from time to time is a lovely little treat, like a drunk cigarette or a decadent slice of cake
