I live all over, but Texas and SF feel like home. Sometimes DC. My superpower is I see so many awesome people, and I do my best to call them out. Mr. Rogers is my hero. And Ted Lasso.

I also like programming, using AI for good, and macroeconomics. He/him

Why are we trying to understand MTG? She’s crazy. So she does crazy things. not worth trying to apply logic. Or warp your brain into crazy town logic land and try to understand. No benefit to doing that.

Remember that the ghost of Roy Cohn runs this administration. What would Roy do? Suck up to the mayor of NYC.

I understand the attacks on DEI as sheer racism, misogyny, transphobia, and especially misogynoir

But also DEI was a really wack framework and I'm not gonna be like "it was so good and we need it"

Historically, DEI was a stepping stone on the journey to the current civil rights framework collapse

Rep. Khanna: Now it is a criminal offense for any career official at the Justice Department or the FBI not to release these files. It's a contempt of Congress. It's no longer, 'we just don't feel like doing it now.' You're violating federal law, and that's something very serious.

I’d like to see a lot more (methodologically sound) research funded around pedagogy, curriculum, learning modalities, special ed of all varieties, etc.

You basically make it a distribution house for information coupled with funding & operational support to help schools implement findings.

Boring reminder, the unemployment rate (and various household survey ratios) are currently much more informative about labor market health than NFP.

If you still have NFP brain, I recommend some reprogramming

Slavery is about economics
It's a revealing moment...

J.D. Vance welcomes a two-legged robot helping on the job site. But if that helper is a person named Jose, he calls it a threat. Same tasks, same productivity boost.

The inconsistency reveals this isn’t about economics.

A reminder: inflation burns but it is the level of prices relative to income that most consumers are struggling with. Too many don’t have the income to make ends meet. That is the result of compounding price increases without broad enough gains in wages …

Jack is great. Thoughtful commentary on policy reform vs "oooh, look hypocrisy" dopamine bait that is 90% of the dialogue here.

@jackbwuzhere.bsky.social should be on your follow list, if you want bsky to be more than a barroom venting echo chamber.
#GrumpyPolitics Reminder: After South Carolina maps were found to be racially gerrymandered, it went to the Supreme Court. Who sat on them for a year and a half, then said, Nah, they aren't.

North Carolina broke it's own laws. Judge stopped them. Went to the Supreme Court... 1/

Well, this is a stress test of America and we are failing.

Someone mentioned today that before the Civil War, abolitionists were incredibly demoralized.

Before the Civil Rights wins, there was blood and death and strange fruit.

We keep fighting. We keep pushing. We'll get there.

A Fair Districting Amendment and supporting Act. At this point, it has to be SB1 and HB1 of the first session. An Amendment, so the Supreme Court can't just wash their hands of it. An Act to codify it and specify how we are going to do it, and the strict penalties if you play games.

In web design, if it feels icky, it's just icky.

It's entirely possible to make an innocent bad design choice. In which case, @support.bsky.team can put in a ticket to update the Text from "Advanced" to "More Settings."

Intent is reflected in how fast you fix it.

I don’t think Trump had anything to do with this. I think the FAA has been hearing from the controllers’ union & the airline pilots association & more & the flight safety concerns are real.

Controllers are working mandatory overtime, exhausted & stressed & this situation can’t continue.
