Pre-butchered a bit this year and cooked the crown separate from the legs/thighs (which were boned, stuffed, and wrapped in bacon).

Definitely the best the skin has ever come out.

One thing about the ancillary news surrounding Opus 4.5 was the arrival of Claude Code in the desktop, which has this option of coding in a ‘cloud environment.’

I can’t tell who this is for, it feels like a feature fragment or proto-feature.

Starting to think a journalist having double Zs in their name might be a bad sign.

Second Josh Barro take I’ve seen in about a week and neither one of them was very smart-coded

Okay so in another thread there was a discussion of whether or not the Dems have a bad habit of "focusing on cultural issues to the exclusion of economic issues" and to that I say: there are no non-economic issues.

Let's take a favorite 'cultural issue' and demonstrate: trans athletes in sports.

Opus 4.5 is really quite something.

I know we're supposed to hate LLMs here and rue the cognitive atrophy they will inflict upon us all, but it's hard not to temper that view if one has read Phaedrus in which Socrates takes a similarly dismal view on the disruptive tech of his day: books.

Fun fact: Pete Hegseth’s brain can be powered by a single russet potato.

The thing I don’t get about the NYT framing everything in this regime mouthpiece way is that it’s not actually that hard to just do better.

Lots of options, here look:

Crude trading at a 5-handle and the dipshits on Fox think we need to go on an oil raid.
Rep. Salazar on Venezuela: "We're about to go in ... we need to go in ... Venezuela for the American oil companies will be a field day"

The thing I wish people like Carville et al would realize is that you cannot have ‘pure populist economic rage’ if you leave out the ‘woke’ bits. It doesn’t work like that.

It’s weird to me they don’t see this, so let’s see if we can walk it out.

It's fucking crazy to me that some non-trivial portion of Americans' 401k money is invested in this guy's bullshit.
Everything about this might be the saddest thing I’ve ever seen

The Socratic agony of reading something so offensively wrong you start reorganizing your day around arguing against it.

One of the challenges of living west of the Mississippi is the formation of certain core memories that don’t age well.

And so every 7-8yrs I’m compelled to order a Barbecue Chicken pizza, my adult brain having forgotten how nasty it is leaving only the childlike twinkle of nostalgia.

X rolled out a new feature overnight showing where accounts are based. This network of “Trump-supporting independent women” that claimed to be “real Americans” are based in Thailand.

The photos were stolen from European models & posts pushed pro-Trump lines while targeting Islam and LGBTQ people.

One of Twitter’s (relatively new) Head of Product’s ideas, which for the record I like, was to show where everyone is posting from which they have now turned on and it looks like a big section of MAGA is just uh… troll farms, as are a lot of accounts generally.

Interesting business decision.

NEW: ICE has finally released post-shutdown detention data. The latest data reveals that a full 40%(!) of people arrested in the interior and held in ICE detention have no criminal record; no criminal charges or prior convictions. That is up from just 4% when Trump took office.

It can be good to cycle off ADHD meds on the weekend, during which I recommend a simple routine:

1. Drive to coffee shop
2. Forgot cup, go back
3. Remember to feed dog
4. Get back in car
5. Whups forgot cup again
6. Get headphones
7. Arrive at coffee shop
8. Still no cup
9. Order in paper togo cup
