As someone whose time freelancing for MLSsoccer was a vital step in my career progression, and someone who generally gleans insight from the observations of others:

This sucks so hard.
MLS is using generative AI to write match recaps. Writers used to get paid freelance rates to do that. Hssssss.

I'm just one person, and my programming needs are somewhat unusual (building various kinds of statistical forecasting models). But I'm just not seeing the consistent productivity gains from LLMs that I would have expected if you'd asked me 6 months ago.

a fun idea to support progressive media would be to take the billions about to be lost here and redirect it towards the people who have spent the last three years ringing the alarm bell

some say we're so back, others that it's so over, but I remain resolute in my view that it is what it is

i know my "this should be illegal" stance sounds stupid, and at face value it is, and im not saying companies should be obligated to keep everything online forever.

but if those companies want to delete archives there should be SOME kind of process that involves archiving and exporting the data
