Same, although I will note for the record that this is the compromise position.
In 2028 I will vote for whoever will send Stephen Miller to The Hague.
79-year-old Paul Bojerski was born to Polish parents in a WWII German refugee camp. His family legally emigrated to the U.S. when he was 5.

He’s been taken by ICE in Florida.

I hate that people keep rediscovering this, but we've known for decades now that paypal does this, arbitrarily and with little recourse.

*Never* keep money in Paypal. Pull it to a real bank the second it hits. Your day-to-day Paypal balance should be at most in the low double digits.
3D artist on Patreon suddenly banned by PayPal: “I have nothing to pay my bills for this month. I have nothing to pay my rent, and I have only around $100 for a living before I resolve this, alter my billing in Patreon and wait a 5 day cooldown. PayPal says I can access my money only in 6 months”

I'm going to be real with you: the entire industry was holding our collective breath from 2016-2020 to see which of us was going to be stupid enough to fall on the grenade of banning a US government account first, and Twitter took one for the team (at almost the last second possible).

one day we will reach a point where people understand that showing something bad happening in a piece of fiction is not endorsing it. but today is not that day, i guess.

Love this for South Korea.
We love to see it!

Lee went to a bread factory where a worker was killed. The next week, they changed to 8-hour shifts from 12.

Labour Ministry will fine companies up to 5% of operating profit if they have 3 three deaths in a year.

New law: employers can get a 1-year jail term for a single death.

even granting everything in the image text is accurate it still conflates blending machine learning with generative model output (a very specific thing). i don't think anyone's out here yelling about the artistic perils of fuckin noise filtering. custom brushes are still moved by human hands.
Really good example of trying to foster AI doomerism in the comments I was describing. Even IF all of that is true (it's not, but sure), I can't stand the attitude of, well, since you *must* use X that's ethically compromised, you might as well just give up on everything! Just begging for a pass

as always, a reminder that if someone you follow hasn't posted in a while, check their profile directly to see if a third-party mutelist you're following didn't suddenly add them. and also to vet your third-party lists because they are definitionally run by people whose decisions aren't yours.

once again reminded that a person can be deeply educated and have interesting things to say on one topic and also have completely dogshit takes on one specific policy issue.

If what ppl are seeing ICE and CBP do horrifies them, then they should realize that they’d be horrified by a lot of contemporary routine policing as well, if they only saw it more.

Like here. It’s the Illinois State Police, choking a priest with his cross during a peaceful protest.

hard to think of a profession more continuously terrifying than 'cave diver'
The systematic exploration of underwater caves in Quintana Roo began in Tulum in the mid-1980s. Several diving teams started exploring the region’s cenotes and discovered extensive passages that expanded as they connected their records.

I'm seeing variants of "ah but today's gamers just don't have attention spans so we sort of have to-" rolled out earnestly so

No. You can let those players fail. The AAA conception of handholding is silly. There's huge genres that don't do it.

You just have a bad manager making you do dumb things.
