shoutout to libs for immediately inventing "taking the bait" as the new casus belli against protestors and first amendment rights

great work, guys, you're really phenomenal at staying on message for why civil liberties must be crushed, even when you only invented the rationale 24 hours ago
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey says 29 people were arrested in downtown last night during a noise demonstration at a hotel reportedly housing ICE agents: "For those that are taking the bait and causing property damage or otherwise, there are consequences. We're holding the line here all the way."

really love thinking about how ICE is not only a recent creation and serves no purpose but also every presidency in my lifetime is far more restrictive and punitive on immigration than reagan, of all fucking people, was
Continue to think that saying “abolish ICE” without explaining how you’ll enforce the law is a trap, but boosting this
"YouGov has ICE at 39% favorable, 52% unfavorable...But this top line really understates the intensity of public backlash to ICE and its tactics. In February 2025, just 19% of Americans held a strongly unfavorable view of ICE. Today, 40% do."

This is simply not technically possible. You cannot generate enough writing in-house to train an LLM. You cannot generate enough art in-house to train a GAN. People who think they have a model "trained on our own material" are using a base model of mass-scraped data, unknowingly or disingenuously.
Larian CEO says Divinity could have gen AI assets in it but only if the tools are trained on the studio's own data.

"If we use a GenAI model to create in-game assets, then it'll be trained on data we own."

polymetallic nodules are amazing. there is a fascinating geological process which makes spheres of manganese and iron (and other compounds) on the ocean floor.

it's grotesque to consider extraction given it occurs very slowly in incredibly vulnerable environments.

I’m pissed that we’re all going to have a shitty 10-15 years economically because a dozen techboys believed that it was possible to write code to the point that the program could write better code and eventually either kill us all or make us immortal, and so they spent $1.5tn for $41bn in revenue

it’s truly wild the canadian government or even the provinces aren’t going harder on amazon. the company literally shut down all its warehouses in quebec because workers unionized!

this is an evil company that gets away with it because it’s seen as convenient, the costs be damned.
I wrote about the growing scrutiny Amazon is facing in New York. The overwhelming majority of the city council has now co-sponsored a bill that would force the company to directly employ its last-mile delivery workforce.

My genuine unfiltered opinion is if you still think its about Ethics in the big 2025 then you're ngmi.

The list of grievances is so incoherent & long that its only purpose at this point is to make disaffected gamers assmad.

Gamers have such incredibly unreasonable demands of indies it's sort of a wonder anything gets made at all.

I could never fault an indie dev for just wanting to withdraw entirely from public from what are deeply wild, unfair or aggressive demands on their passion projects from 'gamers'.
