Exercising caution before weighing in on this as I often find with stuff like this that there's a second update that turns it on its head BUT it does highlight that studios are now a/ one poorly-selling game away from closing and b/ one storefront (or lack of) can make that happen and that is bad.
The excitement of Horses' long-awaited arrival on 2nd December has been tempered by more sobering news. After a series of confounding decisions by Valve, Horses is effectively banned from Steam, leaving the developer highly unlikely to recoup its development costs. https://bit.ly/4oZf00j

Congrats to Sally for this. She is utterly brilliant, and an absolute delight to work with! In EMD she plays 'alien bartender made entirely of liquid struggling to come to terms with her difficult life choices' and the absolute best oversized snake you've ever heard. Well earned, imo.
