Happy Trans Day of Visibility! I'm Samantha, and I've been blogging about media for a decade now. I focus on demystifying criticism through pop culture, so if concepts like death of the author leave you scratching your head, or you're looking to broaden your artistic horizons, check me out #tdov

I can't fucking handle this shit man I've got someone grandstanding about porn in my mentions about how I tolerate porn because I don't think women are people, I go to her shitty blog-

IT'S ALL GIFSETS OF HER FAVORITE MEN FROM STARGATE AND SUPERNATURAL

FFFUUUUUCKING OOOOOOOOUUUUHHHHHH 😬 I'M MAD

you gotta at least consider this shit, because I've got a bunch of flat brained swerfs who hate porn but are indifferent to the epstein files blowing up my mentions, and I think everyone normal owes it to me to appreciate a pornographie in honor of my having to put up with this horseshit.
I haven't quite figured out how to talk about it without coming off like a crackpot cause I know how "this porn comic is as ambitious and should be as medium defining as The Invisibles or V for Vendetta" sounds

but you can get The Unsinkable Ship of Fools for just $10 today. and you should. #comics

my actual greatest frustration at this time of year is that Alien Sex Fiend's seminal classic "Stuff The Turkey" is a christmas song so inappropriate for the day most americans have turkey

I will still shriek STUFF THE TURKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY given the opportunity though

I am a (not at all wealthy) golfer who loves Seattle’s municipal courses, the only way the sport is accessible to me. Broadmoor and other private urban golf clubs are an affront to our city and must either pay their fair share or go.
Paul has been talking about the tax loophole that Seattle country clubs have been enjoying for a while now but WOW I did not know how big

This is Broadmoor Golf Club. It's a gated right-wing enclave for the rich in Seattle. The golf course is 7 parcels, 122.2 acres. It's assessed at just $76k/ACRE!

A good rule of thumb is that every 2 holes of a "full size" golf course (18-hole, par-72) is about as big as Cal Anderson. The whole golf course is usually 9 Cal Andersons in size.

And at Capitol Hill density (which is not very dense! only half the density of U District), each hole of an 18-hole golf course takes up as much area as housing for 1500 people.

idk dog I'd love to have a nuanced discussion of whether intellectual property as a policy is actually getting the outcomes we want and how piracy fits into that but it's like talking to NIMBYs, it's all sentiment, all "if you build a duplex it will kill whales, you like dead whales?" type shit

If you are part of any sort of cool project, for the love of god ask yourself "hey wait does One Dude have sole access to levers that can explode this entire thing?"

And if so, it does not matter how much you like him or trust him, you GOTTA take those levers away from him. Otherwise you're doomed

if only someone had written an essay on the kind of tyranny that keeps emerging from structurelessness. oh well guess we just gotta keep building our systems and social assumptions in ways that make this keep happen forever!

I can have pretty nuanced takes at this point about piracy, but you know what I take a firm stance on? shoplifting.

you can't possibly steal more from a supermarket chain than the managers steal in time, profit, and physical well being from their own workers, so fuck it. snag that spice jar.

imagine if all this anti-piracy energy was spent yelling about public funding for the arts instead

that would actually benefit the majority of working artists, though, and not the loudest winners of the marketized arts scene.

Our upcoming game HORSES was preemptively banned from Steam, with no path to appeal. The game will still launch next week on December 2nd and will be available on EGS, GOG, Humble, and Itch for $4.99. Here is a detailed FAQ covering what happened: horses.wtf/BannedFromSt...

I like the horror movie ranking list and the hater's guide to anime cause they provide this framework for me to talk about more obscure bullshit in a more accessible context, but I don't have a good framework yet for my other great loves--obscure sci fi and fantasy, and weird animation/puppetry...
