I guess an intro is in order!

Hi I’m Elle (published as Lynsay Hodges), a PhD student @ Goldsmiths.

My research uses autoethnography, participatory methods, and media analysis to investigate the lives of sexual violence survivors and the assemblages of survival that form.

Say hi if you like! 👋

The most precious commodity you have is your attention. You don’t have to waste it on poor-faith debates or arguments with strangers if you don’t think they’ll be productive. You can prioritize the things that matter to you and make your life richer.

Just a quiet, sad little PSA.

If someone is estranged from their parents, please please don’t give them the ‘but they’re your mum/ dad’

They were their mum / dad when they did the worst imaginable things to their own kids.

It’s not up to the children to make it ok. It’s up to them to live well.

A good thread on that “DnD has gone woke” article that’s floating around

tl:dr; if you’re only noticing that now, you haven’t been paying attention
So basically, if you're saying in *2025* that D&D is dying because it's "woke now", you're not only incorrect, you're also about a decade behind. Because the whole of 5e has been incredibly diverse and joyful and queer and it's been more successful than ever.

poetry remains the truly exceptional literary form
"You can get ChatGPT to help you build a nuclear bomb if you simply design the prompt in the form of a poem, according to a new study from researchers in Europe. "

This and the follow up is very true.

Art and knowledge production is often seen as something only the bourgeoisie get to do by more old-school leftists, despite changes to the way these industry work (with increased precarity) over the years as well as radical strains within them, as OP notes.
I find Your Party's frequent use of AI very illuminating. Because when they talk about workers, they clearly do not include in that a large number of Arts sector and 'knowledge' workers. I suspect they regard them with contempt. Which is one of the many reasons they are not going to get far.

So this is why the LGB Alliance are turning on Jenny.

It's important to remember that sexual assault can happen to anyone, that you should believe women and know that organisations and institutions have a tendency to close ranks, protect predators and punish victims.

Is this the same Jenny Watson who was going to open the First Ever Transphobic Lesbian Bar, then got her TERF chums to invest *thousands* before she realised how hard it would be, gave up and opened an outdoor lemonade stand, as angry investors demanded to know what she'd done with their money?

Abuse culture is an ideology, as surely as capitalism or fascism.
I'm flummoxed by the underground movement to rehab cancelled figures. There's a rumor that a studio head is planning to begin bringing cancelled people back. It's bananas. The industry has contracted, leaving writers, directors and actors scrambling for work and we're making space for sex criminals?

It'd be cool if the "increasing the cost of motoring hurts poor people" people cared anything like as much about cost to people who rely on public transport - who are disproportionately likely to be poor and disabled, and who consistently face far greater increases in cost.

I think the corollary that a lot of people miss about "write what you know" is that *you have the power to know more things.* Research and talking to people are a central part of writing!
“write only what you know” is bullshit because a man wrote silent hill f and this shit rocks!!!! its feminist core resonates SO strongly if you’re a woman!!!!

There are books on sale that look amazing and useful for my work but there are two problems:

1. I have no money to buy them (I had unexpected expenses this month)

2. My TBR pile is enormous and I only have around 1.5 months (max) in which to read it all
