A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

We finally got to watch ALPHA last night and I am truly surprised at the bad/lack of press it received. I loved it: arguably her most accessible film, raw (no pun intended) and traumatic, open wounds literally and figuratively, the need to let go and the manic refusal to. Terrific performances.

It is your moral duty to chuck any of these things you see into the road before they block the path of a wheelchair user or a kid in a pushchair
Just as you thought food delivery companies couldn't inflict any more misery on society:

Instead of using lowly-paid gig economy contractors to deliver groceries, they're replacing humans with robots, who, in turn, force humans off the pavement into road traffic.

Carney rode into power claiming nation-building project of pipelines & ports & profit for corporations.

Canada-Alberta pipeline MOU today proves what nation-building on these lands always is - devastating colonial extraction on Indigenous lands without Indigenous consent

No consent, no pipelines!

I would sleep better. I would be able to save money. I would give more to charity and subscribe to more magazines, buy more books. I could afford to say no to some paying work so I could spend more time on my writing.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

I've doing round two of GHOST OF YŌTEI (new game plus!) and calculating how long it would take to save enough money for a custom-made Atsu costume.

Women were likely, as women, to take the next generation’s part, not this one’s; they wove the links men saw as chains, the bonds men saw as bondage.

The diplomatic "achievement" of the ceasefire was to recalibrate the tempo of the genocide sufficiently to get it off the front pages and the news bulletins, thus alleviating the political pressure on Israel's western accomplices.

Trudeau-era environment minister Steven Guilbeault has published a resignation letter detailing the reasons for his departure from Carney's cabinet.

He directly cites today's MOU:

Btw, if you're a Carney loyalist who has rationalized everything he's done and told the rest of us to keep quiet, you own what's happening now and what will happen in the next election.

On threads they're once again framing this as a Masterful Gambit by the prime minister.

I swear Carney could frack the greenbelt and some people would be like "you don't understand, Carney is playing chess while the conservatives are playing checkers!!!"
Genuinely feels like there's been a coup within the Liberal party thanks to Carney and his bros.

Not to say Trudeau's Liberals were much better (they bought a pipeline!) but Carney is a full-blown red tory and I'm shocked more Liberals aren't outraged their party has been usurped like this.
Super cool that we've got a deal for a path towards a pipeline that's tied to a carbon capture project, as if that makes it okay

when carbon capture one of the most expensive and least effective options for addressing climate change, and oil companies often use it to EXTRACT MORE OIL!!!!

fuck man

The federal-AB agreement is a love letter to fossil fuels

-cancelation of critical policies (OG emissions cap & clean electricity rules)
-public $$ for a pipeline (via Indigenous loan program)
-more $$ for CCS, incl. enhanced oil production
- only mention of electricity is for fossil fuels

This is craven and beyond contempt. There's no justification. Carney is using the perceived threats from the US to justify slashing commitments, checks, and balances as they pertain to environment, labour, and basically everything else.

This is a corporate power grab and an attack on everyone.

This whole project of “secularism” in Québec is racist bullshit and I loathe it.
Quebec's government is about to introduce a new secularism law which will ban the niqab on campus, campus prayer spaces and daycare workers and ECE students from wearing religious symbols. All to try and save their racist asses in the polls.

I'm an "A.i." abolitionist.

No consumer-facing LLMs or generative "A.i." in anything.

Sure, machine learning in science and a few other limited applications is fine.

But consumer-facing LLMs and generative "A.i." that are based on theft, push disinfo, and can be manipulated by billionaires?

No.
