the subreddits for luxury watches are some of the darkest places on earth
Rolex subreddit post:

My uncle has Alzheimer's and is often forgetful of his possessions. One of them is a Rolex Submariner. Would I be justified in taking and caring for it as my own instead of having it left neglected and forgotten in his jewelry box? Thanks.

At the time it got picked up/cannibalized by a bunch of other outlets. That book is amazing and I now own a deluxe hardcover edition 🤣

It’s Roger Moore’s birthday! This piece I wrote on his book about the making of LIVE AND LET DIE went wildly viral, sent the price of used copies of the book into the thousands for a spell, and very probably was a factor in the book being reprinted. web.archive.org/web/20170424...

Please be conscious if you protest this weekend that there are feds at the protest. They look like you and they sound like you, not like Steve Buscemi in that one clip with the skateboard. Thinking you can spot them is self delusion. Nobody you haven’t met needs to know your last name.

I’m no movie art expert, but the thing that always grabbed me about Drew Struzan’s art was that the figures in his work always looked like they were made of light. (Yeah yeah, “luminous beings.”)

It’s a quality that, of course, maps to movie imagery so perfectly.

Hey, if you're thinking about subscribing to my new efforts at Ghost, this is the week I need you to do it.

The doors are open and the Ghost era is beginning. If you were reluctant because of Substack, please show me I made the right choice by moving.

You can subscribe for FORMERLY DANGEROUS, for THE LAST '80s NEWSLETTER, or for both of them in a deal called THE BUNDLE. 12. (Because I skipped a number)

You’re not in competition with anyone. There is room for EVERYBODY who puts in the work. Also, people can see you bitch and moan online every time your alleged friend gets a win and…it’s not a good look.

4. Everyone needs to pay you something because you can write your own blog for free. I know everyone wants a byline but if places aren’t opening their wallets don’t you dare!

Even my friends who pay writers out of their pockets find the money. So can whatever outlet/zine telling you they can’t.
