Absolutely! The EHRC is really floundering right now, and Bridget Phillipson (so we hear) is getting increasingly annoyed at them.

What better time than now to write (using our easy-peasy tool) and pressure Phillipson to reject the EHRC’s segregationist Code 🤗📝🤗

A new study shows what we know: Journalism is failing on trans rights coverage.

70% of stories about Trump’s executive orders affecting trans people didn’t quote trans people.

They’re talking ABOUT trans people not with them.

Story / study here: www.transjournalists.org/tja-bmsg-exe...
Graph that shows that trans people and their representatives were quoted infrequently: 70% of articles did not feature even a single trans person.

1/🧵 I should note that from the beginning, I knew the EHRC would withdraw their “interim update” guidance.

My aim was to make it untenable for them to defend the position that segregation of trans people is mandatory. And I think that strategy has been successful.

That doesn’t mean we can stop.

If we’re running a letter writing campaign, why don’t we tell MPs that the EHRC is asking for their approval or rejection?

4/ The next battle is likely to take place in Parliament, and we need to ensure the draft Code is rejected. We should start spreading the message and tell MPs that the EHRC is pushing for a vote. I mean they just released a video acknowledging that our sovereign Parliament has the final say. 🤭

The EHRC has finally, five months after producing its wildly transphobic and, we believe, unlawful Interim Guidance now taken it down. Our judicial review challenge to that Interim Guidance will be heard in less than one month.

Nothing will improve when Falkner steps down, by the way. Her anointed successor Mary-Ann Stephenson is perhaps even worse, if what I've heard about her comments re: trans people in private are anything to go by. The EHRC will continue in its mission of using the state to make trans lives unliveable

The EHRC at this point is just an extension of the trans-eliminationist ("gender critical") movement. Just another "GC" group. But the Council of Europe's intervention clearly has them panicked and now they're scrambling to get their Labour lackeys to implement this despicable Code of Practice.

The EHRC has written to the Minister for Women and Equalities, demanding that she rushes through their dreadful draft Code of Practice.

This is a bizarre intervention from a supposedly impartial public body.

This coming down is good.

It was transphobic nonsense which put trans people into a liminal third category which is a breach of international law…

…as the new statutory guidance almost certainly does too. So we fight that too.

This is a stepping stone towards a more equal future:

Wednesday: five months after publishing transphobic legal guidance the EHRC, a month before it has to defend it in court, takes it down.

I've been mocking netflix's Wednesday as "Tim Burton's Monster High". Having now seen the two Nickelodeon Monster High live action movies, I can see I have done Monster High - a meditation on post-2016 LGBTQIA+ politics - a grave disservice.

Wednesday is a vapid, straight-washed Monster High.

You might as well fine them eleventy-squillion, two hundred and bleventeen pounds and frippty pee. Because they're not going to pay any fine.

They're not based in Milton Keynes, or anywhere in the UK. The UK Gov can't enforce any fine - only shout bigger and bigger numbers in a bid to sound tough.

Yesterday, the Council of Europe criticised the EHRC for failing to protect trans people.

So today, Kishwer Falkner and the EHRC doubled down, pressuring the government to fast-track new trans-exclusionary legal guidance! 😬😳

Update on Code of practice for services, public functions and associations
Wednesday 15 October 2025
We have written to the Minister for Women and Equalities, asking that they revoke the 2011 code of practice for services, public functions and associations and lay our updated version of the code as soon as possible so that it has legal status.
Read the letter to Minster and further details about today's announcement
Tomorrow, Thursday 16 October, marks six months since the Supreme Court judgment in For Women Scotland Ltd v Scottish Ministers and six weeks since the draft code was sent to the minister.
The submitted code is an accurate reflection of the law and takes into account consultations that heard from over 50,000 organisations, legal professionals and individuals across England, Scotland and Wales.
The UK government is responsible for the process that will result in the updated code becoming statutory. The new Code will be the expert guide to how duty bearers can make sure that they follow the law. It will supersede the previous code.
You can read more about what will happen next, and the work that we have already done, on our website.

Aftonbladet's interview with Greta Thunberg is now available in English - it raises many serious questions, not least about the Swedish govt. effectively abandoning its citizens to torture because it doesn't agree with their politics. A thundering disgrace.

He’s flagging that 🇬🇧 is in breach of it’s obligations with the result being:

1. They change the approach

2. They lose when this gets to the ECHR

3. The 🇬🇧 leaves the international human rights body we imposed on Europe to stop the rise of fascism happening again.

If Labour doesn't intend to adhere to its human rights obligations anyway, there's little point in us being signatories to the ECHR. Better, more honest, for Mahmood to join Reform in campaigning to leave it.

Amazing to remember Mahmood once boasted: "We lay down in the street and we lay down inside Sainsbury's to say we object to them stocking goods from illegal settlements – and that they must stop. We managed to close down that store at peak time on a Saturday. This is how we can make a difference."
