After the long trip I was tired of waves.
My foot hit rock. The dreamed sails
collapsed, ragged.

I planted him in this country
like a flag.

this keeps coming up in the american context but it's true everywhere

if you join a party in scotland you'll get made a branch officer the first meeting you turn up and if you stick around a few months you'll be arguing with the party leader

if you have the time and energy seriously just do it
I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.

not entirely sure i love the guardian's headline that scottish voters are "embracing" reform and that this is a blow to our self-image as a welcoming country

yes there are arseholes, yes they have supporters, but headlines like these are also what shape the normalisation of those attitudes

how worth it is it to keep playing hades 2 after you've finished the "task"? i still have hearts to unlock etc but it feels like those are gatekept behind a sheer number of runs or doing more of the fates lists which i'm honestly just bored of at this point

uk pals, remember how i keep saying the supermarket sandwich is essentially unknown in canada? there's literally a whole article here trying to explain the concept of preprepared convenience store food

Japan's viral 7-Eleven egg salad sandwich launches in the U.S. Why is it so popular? | CBC News
7-Eleven is bringing its famous egg salad sandwich to U.S. stores, announcing Wednesday that its Japanese-style tamago sando has landed, complete with "pillowy milk bread and creamy egg salad made wit...

despite adhd, not being keen on gore, and absolutely hating sitting still i'm going to go see kill bill: the whole bloody affair on Monday

4.5 hours plus extended scenes. definitely a good idea, right?

Read the Declaration of Arbroath, for fucks sake. It exalts this. It asks you to have pride in the fact your ancestors were migrants.

Anti-immigrant sentiment is in fact in itself anti-Scottish. The Scottish nation as an idea was brought here by immigrants on Fergus Mòr's sixty ships from Ireland. Our cities were built by migrants from Flanders and Normandy. The concept of opposing migration and pretending to be Scottish is silly

exactly this - effective and timely adhd diagnosis and treatment prevents all the problems wes streeting claims to care about. it keeps people in education and work, improves those education and career outcomes, possibly keeps people out of prison, extends lifespans, and might even prevent dementia
This just seems like the wrong end of the telescope to me. Review should be into barriers to employment, not diagnosis.

I really *do* have a fine motor condition, but in the 21st century this poses absolutely no barrier to me working in 90 per cent of jobs in the UK.

It doesn't matter what language you speak at home, or on your first day at school - if you live in Glasgow, Glasgow is your home. Farage and co think multilingualism is somehow a bad thing. I know, firsthand, that it's a strength.

Utterly incompatible statements. If Scottish Labour were truly at the forefront of supporting and upholding human rights in Scotland, you would not merely acknowledge the Supreme Court decision, you'd acknowledge it needs overturned by the UK Government re-instating the intended meaning of the law.

you should be mad at the government, supreme court, jkr, and the various sources of dark money

the guides are in an impossible position and have made it as clear as they can that this is not in any way what they wanted
for the record everyone should be mad *at the government* for this
