I just noticed that Summer Sons by Lee Mandelo is 2.99 on both kobo and kindle. It's one of my most favorite books. It's a Southern gothic featuring a haunting, the horrors of academia, the asshole stage of grief, the asshole stage of "wait, am I gay?" And cars.

I made a very short and very incomplete but still valuable list of indie books with transfem POV characters if you’re looking for your next read! 🏳️⚧️ 📚
For the last few books I've released, I've added a one-page "where this story came from/what I was thinking/etc." at the end. Writing it feels like a treat for when I'm done with the final edits. I suspect most people don't actually read it, but it's fun for me 🤷♂️

Is this story a touching age-gap romance with an older MC who gets a second chance at happiness, or is it saccharine, self-indulgent dross leaning heavily on self-doubt as an excuse for relationship myopia? WHO KNOWS, ALEX, WHO KNOWS
I'm at the reading-editing-reading-editing stage where you can't decide if this is the worst story ever written in all of history or if over-familiarity with your own words is just working against you.

It would be really cool to get to 300 lifetime sales by the end of the year. I'm 31 away, and it's currently free most places.
I'm a big fan of writing the part that feels ready. Can't stop thinking about an argument midway through the book? Write it now! Picturing the perfect hookup scene? Go for it! You can always join the dots (& rewrite accordingly) later.
One more strategy another #WeeknightWriters participant reminded me of that does sometimes work for me, though is to just jump to the part that will flow.
I write out of order. A lot. If scene 11 feels like it will flow, to hell with scene 1 through 10.
