When I worked at the vibrator store the biggest sales traffic came, not on Black Friday, not on Valentine's Day, not before Christmas, but the day of the Superbowl. Think about it, fellas

Young Boris Pasternak's face not only knew about iPhones, it had several poems published in your college literary journal and became microfamous for some truly insufferable opinions on Twitter while everyone said behind its back that its parents were paying the rent for its apartment in Greenpoint

I read "Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" at 18 and was convinced that Dave Eggers must be a man of almost unfathomable sexual charisma. Then I, you know, turned 19

If you want a sense of the kind of things Liberal Currents is willing to publish under its banner of liberalism, read my magnum opus that debunks the entire 'sex based rights' scam, where I reframe that idea as a battering ram being used against the very *idea* of human rights.

If you like books but wish they were cheaper, allow me to introduce you to: Used books.

If you like second-hand books but wish they were free: Libraries.

If you like reading but can't get to a used bookstore and won't support the library (it knows what it did!): Scroll X and go slowly insane

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

"Groundhog Day (1993)," "The Crow: City of Angels (1996)," and, perhaps most importantly, "Howard the Duck (1986)" all initially offered their female lead parts to renowned singer-songwriter Tori Amos. In my America,
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

We have created a device that shall be integral to your life, to the point where it will be hard to function in society without one; we would prefer these devices to break annually and for you to purchase a new one at full price. If you don't, that's called hoarding. They're a thousand dollars each.
stupid young people, stop buying a new phone every year if you don't want to be broke. wait no, not like that.

The 1988 thriller "Miracle Mile" features a trans woman who blows off the nuclear apocalypse to finish her coffee in a diner because she refuses to listen to some panicky white guy. I submit to you that she is the most important character in cinema. youtu.be/YWkVOO43y9Q?...

So turns out in the UK, it’s only a crime to sexually harass a child over the course of several weeks if she’s NOT transgender. Live and learn.
Father Ted co-creator Graham Linehan has been cleared of harassing a transgender activist, but was found guilty of criminal damage to her mobile phone.

The most obnoxious way demands for pitches have changed, since I came out, is that as a trans person I'm expected to show you photos of my face and tell you my life story and how I *feel.* Even being perceived as a cis woman, I was allowed to tell you what I *think,* and you didn't need to see me.

when i worked at a daycare in 2012 the parents were paying like $300 a week! i was making roughly $300 a week so i was like “maybe i should just be nanny and only have to take care of one child???” childcare stuff is basically where the parents and the workers are all unhappy, we should fix that!
"childcare can't possibly cost 32k" for two kids? Yeah it does. 1300 a month per kid is probably a better deal than you're going to be able to find. If you weren't aware of that, then it seems like the writer of the blog isn't the one divorced from reality
