There is no path to a better future that does not begin with Labour's corpse - what is even left worth preserving?

Everything you read about Starmer is best described as "the most pathetic middle manager you've ever worked with" which explains why so much of the country hates him perfectly.

"Massive midterm elections"

WE DON'T HAVE MIDTERM ELECTIONS IN THIS COUNTRY!

Jesus Christ - how many of these assholes went into politics because they saw "The West Wing" and wanted to play pretend with people's lives?
They dislike populism because "promising voters nice things" ruins their cross-party austerity programme that they will suicide-bomb their careers to defend.

"Populism" is the word they started using so they could lump non-authoritarian socialists in with fascists, fortunately they failed to sell this as a concept outside the centrist media bubble because it is completely incoherent if you haven't had your brain melted.

In fact I’m officially proposing the Simpson Test.

Does a work include a trans, nonbinary, or otherwise non-cisgender character, whose storyline is about them, and not about cis people’s journey in learning to accept them?

Bonus points if their storyline is not about being trans.
I suggest we call it the Simpson Test.

Come on Stephen. The term is "degenerate art." You know that.
Stephen Miller: "The scandal is how Democrats & the left scarred the landscape of our country w/grotesque so-called modern art that celebrates ugliness ... very importantly, President Trump is making sure it's in the neo-classical design around which our nation's architecture has long been directed"

I think this is very true - the UK Jewish community is small and dominated by conservative institutions in a way the US and especially NYC Jewish communities are not. Having a big liberal Jewish contingent available to speak up and say "clearly this guy isn't antisemitic are you crazy?" was huge

Cis women in anti-trans religious communities are literally fucking medically transitioning, and the NYT buries this fact 1000s of words into the article.

If anything, I think the takeaway of a Mamdani loss to Cuomo might be the opposite: that Mamdani’s attempt to listen to Jewish concerns failed, so it isn’t worth bothering. If American Jewish organizations are afraid of Mamdani, they should see the anti-Israel politicians who could come after him.
That's why you rig the election with him being the only candidate

Notably many of the same people accused Jewish college students protesting genocide of being antisemetic
"Not one senator said Platner’s tattoo or other controversies were disqualifying, and several acknowledged he’s bringing excitement to a party that has been struggling in the political wilderness since President Donald Trump took back power in January."

da fuc is wrong with these people
Senate Democrats tread lightly on Maine primary as new poll shows Graham Platner leading Janet Mills
Despite recent controversies, Platner has a huge lead in a recent poll and is drawing big crowds, while the two-term governor Mills is counting on her experience and achievements.

It's not a particularly pleasant conversation to have, but we need to interrogate Brianna's mother's role in making it about phones and not about their child's gender identity making them a target for bigots.
That the murder of Brianna Ghey has been so completely co-opted by the "ban kids from using phones" brigade sickens me to my fucking core. Whatever her killers were looking at it's undeniable that the landslide of transphobic propaganda in the media played a crucial role in their choice of victim.

Esther Ghey: "It was just that constant pressure of social media and wanting to get those likes. One of the hardest things was learning about what Brianna was accessing online that was encouraging her to self-harm and develop an eating disorder.”

Did 'the pressure of social media' stab Brianna Ghey
Most of us have pathologically useless parents who don't care to learn about protecting us properly, but this dogshit really takes the cake.

This really is the key point. In my lifetime (I'm 53) Remembrance Day has gone from "mourn the awful waste of countless lives" to "show your support for British militarism".
I stopped wearing poppies a couple of years ago because the idea that war is a bad thing was being discarded by our wretched political class.

David Cleary should rot in hell and the fact we're still pretending we can't talk about him as Soldier F when Colum Eastwood MP literally named him in the Commons using parliamentary privilege and it is recorded in Hansard is an absolute farce.

it is maddening that people are on the streets battling ICE and people with 2 vacation homes are like "gotta keep my head down"
Seems to me that Reform took votes off both the main parties, but not enough to overcome the swing to Plaid.

"Nobody likes Labour or Conservative" seems to be the obvious story here.
