omg. Kat Abughazaleh just posted that if she's elected, she'll swear in on a copy of Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower.

If you were elected to public office (never mind whether you'd ever actually run), what book would you swear in on?

The trick to be taken seriously is to act seriously, something the election deniers don't seem to be capable of doing.
I’ll take these theories seriously when the advocates of them submit papers to legitimate, refereed journals and propose actual, as opposed to handwavy pie in the sky, mechanisms of action.

For now I’m with election security experts like @mattblaze.org who hasn’t seen anything close to reasonable.

China hit 25% electric trucking for haulage… rapidly.
That’s a huge deal & essentially tells you what’s in store for everyone else. This will force a change in large trucking manufacturers around the world & impact the price of diesel.
We live in interesting times.

1. Dems pick Newsom or Kelly despite all the warnings from Black folk.

2. Dem primary winner says "Be more normal! Abandon trans folk + immigrants! More cops!"🤡

3. Lots of would-be Dem voters sit out. Again.

4. Dems lose to Vance or someone else Thiel approved.

5. Dems blame Black folk. Again.

It’s useful to think about things like this in numbers of tenure track professors.

$33M is 358 assistant professors. Or about fourteen percent of the total number of full-time faculty at Michigan State.
SOURCES: Michigan State is firing head coach Jonathan Smith, @theathletic.com has learned.

He went 9-15 in two seasons, including 1-8 in the Big Ten this year. (ESPN first reported).

MSU players meeting called for 2:45. Smith has a $33 million buyout (with offset).

Disabled people were one of the first groups targeted by the Nazis.

They coined the term “useless eaters”.

They tested the gas chambers on us.

They knew most people wouldn’t fight to save our lives.

That’s why the President using the R slur is so dangerous.

We’re not expendable

I did not know of this holiday, and wish that were still true.
'Tis the season once again!

Around this time of year, people who strung their Christmas lights the wrong way start wandering into hardware stores looking for what they later find out is often called a "suicide cable."

And yes, banning masks and reducing vaccines happened *before* RFK jr took over, so don't try to blame it all on him. And Dems backed mask ban legislation too.

Banning masks was part of the whole "This will make life slightly harder for Black people," that is so irresistible to Dems and GOP alike.

When Howard Dean was the Democratic frontrunner for President, he was disqualified, by the media, for yelling "Yeah!" once.

At some point we just have to admit that mainstream media sources are biased.
Remember in 2000 when Al Gore was repeatedly misquoted as having said he invented the internet and that was seen the eyes of many as disqualifying him from office? Simpler times. Today, Trump makes up lies equivalent to "I invented the internet" 30 times a week and no one bats an eye. Good job media

A U.S. soldier was executed on the streets of the U.S. capital, yet the flags remain at full-staff.

But when a hate-peddling podcaster was killed, the flags were lowered to half-staff within hours—and stayed that way for days.

WTH?

The reason the top 10% of income earners pay more than half of all tax revenue is NOT because they are taxed more than ever.

Their tax rate has been cut FIVE times in the last 25 years.

They are paying more because their INCOME has increased astronomically, where the income of the bottom half has

“Cancelled” means, “because the public finds their actions so awful or inappropriate companies choose not to commission product from them”.

That’s literally it. Said something profoundly racist? Customers don’t want to buy your product. Now you’re “cancelled”.
When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

I’d love tech CEOs to stick to a lane. Either AI makes workers so much more productive that they need to do layoffs or there’s so few workers in place that everyone needs to work nights and weekends.

Now it just seems layoffs are happening for economic reasons with AI as a convenient cover story.
