American Book-Off is great for obscure Japanese stuff that most Americans don't want

Book-Off San Diego gets! Everything in the Super Famicom section was too expensive but the wall of random Game Boy games had some legit bargains!

How many Ultra Hands do I need? Four? It's probably four, right?
kohler.bsky.social
It's not bad! A Wiimote would be better but I was surprised how playable it was.

I've tried every way of playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Switch and I gotta go with "loose dual Joy-Cons."

Moving while jumping and aiming and shooting with Yoshi? Pretty much the only way that's gonna happen.

Collectors! Store owners! Hoarders! Help us out! @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social is looking to source copies of this 1985 NES pack-in poster for fundraising reasons, and we need them asap. We already cleaned out eBay. Note that they need to be the ones that say copyright 1985, as pictured! Can pay!

JUST CONFIRMED: I'll be at Portland @retrogamingexpo.bsky.social next weekend with a panel on Sunday titled "Collecting In 2025: How To Start, How To Continue... And How To Quit."

Collecting In 2025: How To Start, How To Continue... And How To Quit

Seriously, you're collecting video games in the year 2025? But everything's too expensive! All the games are gone! It's just not FUN anymore! ... That's what they say, anyways, but it's just not true if you don't want it to be. Chris Kohler has been collecting since the 1990s and has some advice for every step of your journey -- whether you're just starting a collection, trying to keep one going, or wondering how to wind it all down.

I took up the task to adapt the GPU renderer of MK4 from OpenGL that our emulator engineer did to our bakesale rendering abstraction. Adding 2x, 4x was a easy call to make, just need to render the scene in a bigger intermediate render target.
digitaleclipse.bsky.social
We've enhanced MK4's graphics with 2x and 4x rendering modes, which give the 1997 arcade original a smooth, modern look. It's entirely optional -- run at the original resolution with the CRT filter for authenticity!

All the panels are filmed so you can check it out after the show!

eBay listing showing the letter: www.ebay.com/itm/14679414...

This reads like they discovered some bugs post-launch and added this in to later copies, which would explain why some (most?) don't have them.

Yeah but would Nintendo be this brave to just have an entire Xbox 360 power brick dangling off the cart

Another thing I got today. Apparently they wanted to release a chess game for the Odyssey2 in Europe, but the system couldn't handle it and just adding a chip to the board wouldn't get it done. So they added an entire ass computer that was wired to the cart. This is why CD-ROMs were inferior media
