The only acceptable Keynesianism to the Labour right is military / weaponised Keynesianism. Impossible to harness state capacity for jobs & infrastructure in eg the NHS, council housing, social care or education. But loadsa cash to funnel to arms manufacturers to build munitions that'll gather dust

Labour party today:
- Disabled people can’t drive Audis, BMWs and Mercedes on Motability. No to £25k Audis but £36k Nissans are fine
- Discredited PFI to return for funding NHS projects
- Trial by jury to be axed except for most serious cases

That’s just today

High fiving & yaaas queening the dismantling of democracy & the rise of fascism into existence
It comes after our @jessicaelgot.bsky.social revealed that criminals will be stopped from “gaming the system” by choosing trial by jury to increase chances of proceedings collapsing - and that govt was planning radical changes to limit jury trials by next election.

Today I learned that stalking a 17 year old girl, writing up a 400 page 'dossier' about her, falsely reporting her to the police and smashing her phone does not constitute 'harassment'.

One wonders what *would*.

I'm Jewish. I grew up in an observant home. My bar mitzvah was at a Lubavitch shul. My parents were ardent Zionists who donated to the Jewish National Fund and AIPAC as birthday presents.

If *I* can recognize Israel is a genocidal apartheid state and become antizionist, so can you.

Interesting that this happened the day before the government approved the Heathrow expansion
Last night the Government steamrollered its Planning Bill through, slamming the door on vital protections for nature.

They said it would be a ‘win-win’ for the economy and nature.

But in reality, they’ve pushed nature into last place.

This is brutal and just shoves vulnerable broke people into homelessness.
The government’s decision to halve the time limit for refugees to leave Home Office accommodation is driving people into homelessness and exploitation, according to migrant rights campaigners and homelessness charities

By me, for @theleaduk.bsky.social national.thelead.uk/p/new-asylum...
New asylum policies making homeless refugees “targets for the far right”
Labour’s abrupt return to the 28-day move-on period is pushing vulnerable people into rough sleeping and exposing them to fraud and abuse.

Sensible Centrists were huge supporters of Starmer, told us he was going to do wonderous things as a human rights lawyer and insisted his competence would fix everything.

There's simply no reason to listen to them about anything ever again.
Bit of a test case here for “is liberalism still a real thing, or is it just a political version of a collection of Labubus that you show off to your friends” IMO.

This bad on its own terms & whatever govt is in power. But it's especially bad cos it's a gift for a future Farage & Reform govt who will not have even more fascsist infrastructure already in place for them to exploit in authoritarian crack downs against those they want to persecute

Obviously this government are wantonly reckless and idiotic and their treatment of universities, and see this as a disciplining of an out of touch elite.
But what all of this unwillingness to intervene means is that a critical industry will collapse and a lot of ordinary people will be unemployed.
"A system built on specialisation, efficiency", that right there is the death knell for the current university system in the UK, if (big if) government pushes it through. They actively don't want HE to grow, they will intervene, apparently, to help it shrink.

per this morning's education committee.

Among the many horrors of institutional transphobia in the UK, it is pretty depressing that as a trans person I genuinely am losing any faith that someone like me would be treated fairly by our judicial system.

I realise we’re far from the only community this affects, it’s still bleak.
