Philly stuff. Outdoorsy stuff. Artsy stuff. Maybe a LOT of xc skiing stuff on winter weekends? I'm as confused as you are.
Frankfurt newspaper on Diggins speaking out:

"Their voices, and those of many others, demonstrate one thing above all, in my view: There are many Americans who are rebelling. And who are not afraid."

Jessie Diggins 8th in the skiathlon today, swimming upstream after getting tangled up during the first classic lap. (Her classic skis also looked mid; despite a lot of conversation from the commentators about her World Cup workload, I think the fitness is there.)

This is less of a "downhill course" and more of a "ravenous monster conjured from the depths of our collective unconscious." #olympics

I am...not unimpressed with Mr. Kenworthy's precision and font choice here.

I think Jessie Diggins said it well when she said, essentially, that she gets to decide who she competes for and she’s not competing for the racists

Pro tip for any Hill journos, the Speaker can approve 24hr protection for Members who are under heightened threat. Omar used to have this, but Mike Johnson took it away. You should ask him about that

Laying a honey trap for JD Vance.
People are definitely setting up a barricade of trash cans and this couch, in the middle of the street where ICE is.

"That's my couch," said a woman standing nearby. "It's been on my porch for four years because it won't fit up the stairs. My neighbor will be pleased it's gone now."

Colonial-garbed tour guides giving free talks on the real history of the President's House in the absence of signage. (The fellow wearing the tri-cornered hat is asking "how would you feel about someone coming into your house and taking down pictures of the people YOU care about?")

Fun classic sprints today in Goms. Diggins misses the finals but skis well and adds to her overall lead. Klaebo stomps the men's field as usual, but Gus Schumacher gets 2nd for his first sprint podium. Ogden makes the final, meaning there were as many Americans as Norwegians in the top 6, wild stuff

Because I am older than a first-grader, I am old enough to recall an endless stream of lectures about keeping Confederate monuments up because we shouldn't "erase history".
President Donald Trump and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum ordered content at national parks that “inappropriately disparage” the U.S. to be reviewed and potentially removed.
The slavery exhibits at the President’s House have been removed following Trump administration push

Huh.
INBOX: Air Force One (tail number 29000), which was carrying President Trump from Washington, D.C. to Davos, Switzerland, appears to be turning back. (h/t @PollTracker2024/X)

you know this guy is a FOR REAL photographer because he's telling the story of his brutal, unconditional arrest by federal goons and can't help but slip in a gear review
Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

Improving your electoral odds and political capital by deciding to govern better and suck less is a little-used cheat code in the Democratic party. I'm somewhat astonished that Kathy Hochul, of all people, is one of the only big-name centrist Dems to pull it off.

Counter-programming to the horrors at its finest.
The time has come, the Walrus said,
To talk of many things:
Of penis bone thieves at Donkey's Place
Of pashminas used as carrying slings
And why the suspects might be ravers
And whether there are more walrus dong robbery rings.

www.inquirer.com/news/walrus-...
Donkey’s Place’s walrus bone was stolen from the bar. Staff want it back.
The third-generation owner of Donkey's Place doesn't know where the walrus penis bone came from, but he said it's been with the bar since he was a kid.

I don't know if it's the "best" but I love that Damon Lindelof basically refused to do another WATCHMEN because he thought he stuck the landing and he's famously not great at that.
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc
