Nadim Zahawi arrived in the UK from Iraq as a child refugee. His family claimed asylum once they were here. Today he has joined Reform who will stop all in country asylum applications. Under his new party, his own family fleeing persecution would be immediately deported.

Welcome to new Bluesky users.

Here’s how we do things:

1. Always observe the Hambledon Protocol

2. No flisking

3. If someone tealights you, rink them without apology

4. I don’t mind them so much, but tissue-posts are generally frowned on

5. No questions

Good luck!

Just seen Grok putting the body of the victim of the ICE shooting in Minneapolis into a bikini. Digital corpse desecration now available to the public.

I've worked in IT since 1983, and seen many trends come and go, but this new thing of Junior Devs using mechanical keyboards is killing me. Just because you've got a keyboard that clicks doesn't mean that you're in any way competent. I think I might be done.

Any shred of moral authority now gone from US Foreign policy. They've just done what Putin tried to do to Ukraine. Europe needs to get serious fast and get the UK back into some sort of partnership and stop trying to punish us for Brexit.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

Look, it makes strategic sense; if Venezuela has huge reserves of teenage Latin American beauty pageant contestants, then access needs to be secured to that supply, if necessary using military force.

There is, to my mind, no justification for the continued use by the UK Government of X as a platform for official comms. There hasn't been for some time, in fact, but if the latest developments around AI-generated image abuse and CSAM don't change the policy I really don't know what will.

After listening to this podcast, I think we should convince the creators of Bluey to make an episode where the Tradies install solar on the Heelers’ house and everything goes smoothly with the install (the story’s conflict comes elsewhere). That could have a big influence on everyday Americans.
Today on Volts: you've probably heard that Australia has cheap rooftop solar power. You've probably also heard some rumors & myths about it. (Is it destabilizing the grid?) I called my favorite Australian energy expert to clear it all up. This is a fun one!

What's the real story with Australian rooftop solar?
Saul Griffith joins me to debunk the myths surrounding Australia's massive influx of solar energy.

Club MTV - Don’t Stop the Music (Rihanna)

MTV 80s - Together in Electric Dreams (Oakey and Moroder)
