There is not a system on earth that can withstand the governing coalition simply deciding that they don't have to enforce the laws against themselves.
The Constitution doesn't have a law against a Trump because it assumes that a Trump would not be permitted by the unspoken rules of gentlemanly society to ascend to the Presidency.
And after January 6th, the Founders would have expected the mastermind to be, at least, in prison.

So much of our constitution was made worse by the incredibly wrong... I won't even call it belief, maybe "delusional hope" that we wouldn't have political parties, cults of personality, or enough bad (or just weak) actors in enough places to compromise checks and balances.
