Speaking as a GC person who uses people's names and pronouns, I'll add that some see it as a slippery slope we've already experienced. "It starts with pronouns and ends with male rapists in women's prisons." There's a belief that society gave an inch and a mile was taken.

Like, even if Dems win majorities in both houses, investigate all the things and even do some performative impeachments, that'll come to a screeching halt if there's a Dem president in '28.

The number of people committed to separation of powers as a matter of principle is disappointingly small.

I harp on this a lot, but partisanship turned out to be much stronger than the branches' jealousy for their powers. I don't know how we fix that.
